Wi-Fi

From what I understand you have to rent a wireless card..something like $50 or so dollars. I think it depends on the length of the cruise. I have midterms the week we're going and I contacted my instructors so I could have access the week before. :) Made things a lot cheaper and less stressful.

It depends on the ship. Saying they have Wifi does not mean it is everywhere.

Cost will vary. On Princess it is 75 cents per minute or you can buy a package.

$55 = 100 minutes

$75 = 150 minutes

$100 = 250

$175 = 500

There is also a $3.95 set up fee with the packages and the by the minute plan.

Access is via satelite and very slow.

If your laptop is wi-fi enabled, there isno need for a card. If you know the ship, ask on the board for that cruise line. Noone has free internet except a line or two in suites or as a loyalty privilege. EM

She will pay the same prices as she would using the ship's computers. Wifi is not free, and can be very expensive as it's basically dial up service. I've had internet pages take as long as two minutes to download. You can purchase a package of minutes at a lower per minute rate, but you really use those minutes up quickly because it's so slow.

Unless it is a new ship, there will not be total coverage ... usually wi-fi is located in public common rooms. The fees can be quite high, especially for what can be considered "dial-up" speed.

I believe that all of the Princess ships offer Wi-Fi throughout the ship...

"
Internet access is available on all Princess vessels through our 24-hour onboard Internet Cafe and wireless network -- which is available in staterooms and various public areas including our world famous Piazzas."
