What's great about Carnival???

I've cruised Royal, Princess and NCL but haven't cruised Carnival. I haven't heard bad things but would love some comparisons from those who have cruised other lines.

We haven't had any significant complaints about any of our cruises but each of the lines/boats seem to have their strengths and weaknesses I'd love to know the good and bad.

The chocolate melting cake for one! mmm mmm

The ship I find easier to navigate then Royal

There food in general I found to be better also

The pizza is delish

I enjoyed the entertainment better on carnival

You wont get an ice show though :(

The rooms are bigger

My only complaint about carnival is there soda card program. I am a huge diet soda drinker and getting a soda in the morning on carnival is impossible.Thats why we chose another line last year (yes I am that addicted to soda! )

You can bring you own but I take so much crap I dont want to lug a 12 pack too

Some find the interior gaudy..I rather enjoy it though

In my opinion.

The food in the MDR is superior to Royal Caribbean. As is the bedding.

If the pizza place still has it, try the Panzerotti, you'll have to wait a few minutes but it's worth it.

I find a vibrancy in the atmosphere that isn't matched elsewhere.

Great people watching.

Then you already have the right attitude and know each line has it's own character. Being an open minded individual, you are sure to enjoy your first Carnival cruise.

First off, you pay a LOT less, and get a LOT more!

Add the great food, the atmosphere, the entertainment, on stage and off, the service, and the great fellow passenger base, and you got yourself a GREAT cruise.

Good and not so good on all lines. Love newer RCI ships for activities and decor. CCL generally costs less for similar cruise.:D Passengers on CCL appear to have a better time, more relaxed. We're Platinum on both RCI and CCL, and the passengers on CCL most cruises we've taken are more laid back and friendlier than RCI. We will sail both again.

We've cruised 20+ times on various lines. We just got back from the Carnival Pride and I must say that the food we had was probably the best so far. We've never had a bad cruise on any of the lines but this particular cruise will stand out in my mind because of the delicious, well prepared dishes. As a side note, we cruised Celebrity Millenium this past fall and it was a great cruise BUT - the food, on the Carnival Pride was better.....

The prices are fantastic. The food is overall enjoyable. The casinos usually have a better selection of slots than NCL. Oh, and none of the Carnival ships have made jumping over the rail and swimming to shore look like a viable option, unlike my last NCL cruise.

we have only done rci and ccl but i must say the way the staff treated my dd on ccl was second to none to me that makes for an enjoyable time . by the second day i think most of the boat knew my dd . we got home and for like a week after the cruise my dd (18 months old) kept asking if she could go to the lido lmao:D

I found NCL kind of blah after Carnival. The food wasn't quite as good, the entertainment just ok. Don't get me wrong, it was still a great cruise. Those are just the things that come to mind when I compare the two.

In the past 5 years we have cruised CCL, NCL, and RCL. They don't differ that hugely in most respects. We give the edge to Carnival because the prices are USUALLY less, the food is better than RCL, nice water slide, big rooms, good service. We liked NCL with the whole freestyle thing, but now that Carnival has the anytime seating at dinner there is no reason for us not to book with CCL. The only reason would be to get a more exotic itinerary thru another cruise line.

For this cruise (april) we were deciding between Carnival Destiny and RCI Navigator. The Navigator seems cool with the rock climbing wall and ice rink, and I have heard the ice dancing show is incredible. The food on Carnival is awesome, the rooms are a bit bigger than other lines, we were able to get the aft balcony for a great price. The 4-night RCI cruise only stops in Coz, whereas the Carnival stops in Coz and Key West, so we wanted the extra port.

It was a tough choice but between the extra port and the lower price, we went with Carnival again.

We have sailed the sampler: CCL, RCI, NCL, PCL, Disney, and X. On CCL, we love the entertainment, the variety of food and food stations, the comfy beds, and the dancing waiters. We agree that these cruises are more similar than different and that we enjoyed them all, except perhaps Disney.

Your post makes me sooooo happy. Cruised with Carnival 1st time feb/2009. Loved the ship, the fun the cabin and steward, but food was just ok and waiter - yuck! Glad I booked again. Love RCCI too and Celebrity - Heck, I just like to cruise.
