dontpanik Posted April 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2010 What is there to do walking distance from where you disembark/tender? Is there a place to go where you can snorkel on your own? Is there a need to get a bus or taxi to explore Georgetown?
bookbabe Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2010 The port area is right in the middle of downtown Georgetown, so there's lots to do within easy walking distance...shopping, food, a museum, snorkelling at Eden Rock...
clackey Posted April 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Bookbabe is right. There is plenty to do near the tenderdock. Eden Rock is a short walk to the right as you leave the dock. For more info read the first Sticky at the top of the Cayman board.
leslieart Posted April 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2010 We walked to Eden Rock to snorkel and it was fantastic. We rented a locker for the day for $5 and that was our only expense. Next time I think we will check out Cheeseburger reef which is in the other direction.

sunandsnow Posted April 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Cheeseburger Reef got its name because it is in front of Burger King (also by the Lobster Pot restaurant). Snorkeling right off shore.

marshhawk Posted April 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2010 We took the submarine excursion(booked through the cruise), but basically you walk off the dock to the street, turn right and walk approx. 4 blocks. Coming back, we crossed the main road, and visited the museum, and there is the cutest gift shop mall with high end souveniers. Get off the main drag and the prices and unfortunately so does the quality. We really loved the Cayman's they are clean and beautiful.
golfadj Posted May 1, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Sub is just to the right of the pier and no reason at all to do it thru cruise line.
