Can anyone explain?

I am booked on two one day cruises from Vancouver to Seattle in May to get to Elite status.

Golden Princess May 14 inside CAD78.85 plus 52.96 taxes etc

Sapphire Princess May 15 inside CAD79.35 plus 48.97 taxes etc

My Princess rep can't explain why the prices aren't identical-especially taxes as the times etc are identical.

I am just curious of anyone has an idea. I'm not complaining over such a small price but am curious.

Only thing I can figure is that one port charges a different amount for arriving passengers and departing passengers. Why? I don't know.

They both depart Vancouver and arrive Seattle. I am taking the bus back to Vancouver between the trips.

Different ships, different ages, different # of passengers, different pier? I'm just throwing out guesses.

You really must want Elite status!

Elite also gives me the free laundry I want for a transatlantic repositioning

Are you also traveling solo and getting two cruise credits for each cruise?

solo for first but with partner for second. Prices I showed were for double though

When you sail solo you get double credits.

That is why one is single and one double. I needed three cruises so single is double

This is just a guess, but the Sapphire is less tonnage than the Golden, and perhaps some of the taxes are charged by tonnage of the ship. They are both listed as having the same pax capacity.

maybe because of the different days? we're on the Sat one on the Sapphire, mini-suite and it was a great fare too.. never thought of doing what you're doing to get in the cruise credits tho - good thinking! i'm not quite up there yet. it is a fun way to have a mini 'get-away'

My guess is that is priced at what Princess feels they can get to fill each ship (good old "supply and demand").

I think it's the tonnage of each ship.

 

Congrats on the Elite. I wish Princess would do some 1 days here on the East coast. :rolleyes:
