mafig Posted May 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2010 DH has a friend who is sailing on Oceania in February from Florida to California. I think it's Marina. DH said "friend" is buying a new tuxedo because Oceania doesn't offer the rent-aboard option. I told him, that's because Oceania doesn't have formal nights, just country club casual. Well, DH said that "friend's" wife is a TA and she should know whether they have formal dress or not. I told him it wouldn't be the first time a TA was wrong! So, who's right?:p
Druke I Posted May 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2010 No need for formal attire on Oceania's ships. Dress code is "country club casual".

Rare WesW Posted May 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2010 here is what Oceania's website says: Q: Is there a dress code? A: Recommended onboard clothing is resort or country club casual. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes not be worn at dinner. That is a long standing Oceania concept. The TA who gave the wrong informatin may not be familiar with Oceania. ENJOY!!!!!:)

Too funny....it's his wife, if you missed that.:) They did invite us to join them but this cruise is more than we're used to paying. Fetchpeople Posted May 1, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 1, 2010 At least the friend is right on one count: Oceania does not offer the option of renting a tuxedo on board. If they did, business woulld be quite slow, given that there are no formal nights.

Mparis184 Posted May 8, 2010 #15 Share Posted May 8, 2010 One of the many reasons we love Oceania so much is their country club casual dress code. We travel with two carry-ons and a tux would never fit! Marion

Marion 2 carry-ons? I need to take packing lessons from you. :) I see you're from Williamsville -- I'm originally from East Aurora and have family in Cheektowaga, Depew, and Williamsville. R & R Carroll Posted May 11, 2010 #19 Share Posted May 11, 2010 One of our favorite things about Oceania is that it is "country club casual"--NO FORMAL NIGHTS!!! My husband does bring at least one blazer, two for longer cruises, but never a suit or a tie. Some men don't bring any jackets at all. What ever makes you comfortable. As dashing as men look in tuxedos, I would think that anyone wearing a tux on Oceania might feel a tad over dressed and uncomfortable...
Rickey 88 Posted May 11, 2010 #20 Share Posted May 11, 2010 We are on that same cruise - so tell your DH that if he wears his new tux in the evening, we may give him a long round of applause, but I for one, won't tip him!! :D
