Please settle argument with DH

DH has a friend who is sailing on Oceania in February from Florida to California. I think it's Marina.

DH said "friend" is buying a new tuxedo because Oceania doesn't offer the rent-aboard option.

I told him, that's because Oceania doesn't have formal nights, just country club casual. Well, DH said that "friend's" wife is a TA and she should know whether they have formal dress or not. I told him it wouldn't be the first time a TA was wrong!

So, who's right?:confused::p

here is what Oceania's website says:

Q: Is there a dress code?

A: Recommended onboard clothing is resort or country club casual. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes not be worn at dinner.

We have just finished our 20th Oceania cruise and I can guarantee you that there are no formal nights on any of the ships...nor will there be any on the Marina. That is a long standing Oceania concept. The TA who gave the wrong informatin may not be familiar with Oceania. ENJOY!!!!!:)

Tell the friend to send me the money instead ;) - thankfully no tux needed!

I just love it when I'm right! Thanks.

Incidentally, the TA is the wife of my dh's friend and she's the one telling him to buy the tux - lol.

Maybe she has ulterior motives - she wants to get an evening gown out of this:D?

Guess that TA does not know her product :D

Do not even need a suit or a blazer unless you want to

Of course if he wants to dress in a Tux he can at least you will be able to find him in a crowd;)

Maybe she is confusing OCEANA a P & O ship with the cruise line OCEANIA

Or maybe she has a side business selling tuxedos.

Too funny....it's his wife, if you missed that.:)

They did invite us to join them but this cruise is more than we're used to paying. Maybe someday.;)

One of the many reasons we love Oceania so much is their country club casual dress code. We travel with two carry-ons and a tux would never fit!

Marion

2 carry-ons? I need to take packing lessons from you. :)

I see you're from Williamsville -- I'm originally from East Aurora and have family in Cheektowaga, Depew, and Williamsville.

2 carry ons? Heck my shoes wouldn't fit in that!;)

One of our favorite things about Oceania is that it is "country club casual"--NO FORMAL NIGHTS!!! My husband does bring at least one blazer, two for longer cruises, but never a suit or a tie. Some men don't bring any jackets at all. What ever makes you comfortable. As dashing as men look in tuxedos, I would think that anyone wearing a tux on Oceania might feel a tad over dressed and uncomfortable...
