Wow! Maybe if I start praying now .... never had such luck!

Me either, I'll pray with you.......:p LOL

I'm just hoping for a cabin assignment....on Maiden voyage in January....booked an OV....no cabin assignment, just a GTY...for some reason.

Do you think that if there is no OV for me, I could 'bunk' in with someone with a PH, or OS????? Just kidding of course...:D ;) !

If I had an OV GTY booked, I'd be praying that Oceania DIDN'T have an OV Stateroom saved for me!

If that is the case, they will put you into a Veranda Cabin, while you've only paid for the Ocean View.

Of course, like any good business people, Oceania will try to upsell others who are holding specific cabins in your category first, but you just might get lucky on a crowded voyage like the maiden TransAtlantic.

Best of luck with it! ;)

Getting back to the (partial) tipping in advance, it was my intention to do that and I was wondering, the itinerary being Venice to Athens, if it would be better done in USD or Euros?

Anyone got an opinion?

Thanks, k

Euros preferred. USD happily accepted. Both are highly liquid.

If the ship we sail on will dock in a USA port within a few weeks of our cruise ending, we would tip in Dollars. If the ship is staying in Europe, we tip in Euros.

Having said that, we almost always bring a hundred dollars or so, in two dollar bills, wherever we cruise. We use them for spot tips, and you would be surprised how well the staff remembers having received them. :D

I have heard that the crew may have problems cashing $2 bills in some places

Maybe that is why they remember you :D:D

We just take $1. in the Caribbean but for Europe we gave Euros as extra tips

I am sure they will accept anything

Crew members I have talked to appreciated the $2.00 bill.

The new "golden dollar" coins are not popular with crew members.

$2.00 bills are fairly easy to obtain at my bank - Wells Fargo, and I recently read that the Treasury has printed a bunch more of them.
