Debathome Posted October 30, 2012 #1981 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Dileep, your photos are amazing and I am jealous that you are getting all of the splendor of autumn AND still having some wonderful flowering. Ours is all brown or dead. Although after these rains and winds, it will probably be quite bare in a few days. Cindy, lol that the butterfly pic was at the zoo. Great shot. Sparky, those are great shots. I imagine you are at the top of your class! Love all the fall pictures. :)

Debathome Posted October 30, 2012 #1988 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Speaking of Sandy.. .. Not a great shot but the subject is interesting. We had rains and wind but otherwise were fine, well most of us, our neighbor one street over didn't fare so well... A tree branch fell and took down the electrical wire which besides getting crushed, started the vehicle on fire. It was torched.

zackiedawg Posted October 30, 2012 #1991 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Hurricane Sandy passed offshore of us Friday, but all day Saturday our winds were 40-50MPH, and then Sunday the winds started to fade, but I headed down to the beach to witness the huge seas kicking up in her wake. Let me tell you, Florida's version of 'waves', even on a stormy day, are usually 4-5 feet. These were 15-20 foot breakers, stacking on top of eachother, and completely running the entire depth of our 200-foot-wide beach, all the way back to the sea grasses and ocean ridge. The beaches were closed, but I braved ducking under the barriers for some shots of the waves coming in - even 200 feet away with 420mm of lens, I had waves hitting me knee-high standing in the sea grass 20 feet from the coastal road! Even today, the beaches are still getting huge waves and some erosion, and some beach parks are still closed as the waters are running the whole beach, with serious undertows and riptides if someone gets dragged in. I'm glad the storm missed us, and hoping for the best for everyone up north (including many of my relatives) going through the aftermath and cleanup. TheRoff Posted October 30, 2012 #1992 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Wow, Justin, those are scarey looking waves. We were lucky here in central Maryland not too much rain and wind. We didn't even lose power. Larry
