I used my Panasonic Lumix GH-1 and a variety of lenses. I also used my tripod for the first time in ages. It was a fantastic day!!

Flint Hills and Cattle Pens in Kansas - on our way home from Texas a few days ago. It was a great trip!:)

Back in "The Day" the ranchers from hundreds of miles around drove their cattle to the Cattle Pens where they were sorted and then sent all over the country.

JWJs, are those the cattle pens along I-35? I used to drive by them all the time on my way from Enid, OK, home to Overland Park, when I was stationed in Enid.

BTW, good pictures, too. The contrast between green and brown really comes out, and that pretty much sums up Kansas. :)

Hi Nilbog.:) Yes...those cattle pens are along I-35. That was the 1st time we we took the time to stop there and it was well worth it. We were able to drive through a gate in the pen area and then drive a couple of miles down a dirt and gravel road into the heart of the Flint Hills. Great adventure.

You must have been up at dawn to get the water so still. Where was this?

It was around noon near Mt Baker about 55 miles east of Bellingham, WA.

It was fairly still but the wind picked up a bit every now and then. Did not have to wait much for the water to be still.

I used to live in Baton Rouge when I worked for the State of Louisiana. Now a retired state guy.

Your picture looks like it was taken on I-10 near College Drive.

The Budweiser Clydesdales came to Kansas City yesterday. They offered some great photo opps, paraded around the parking lot and then delivered beer to several bars and taverns in the area. What fun! It was late afternoon, lots of shadows and tons of people ~ many trying to get their best shots ~ a real challenge for taking pictures.
