We need info on back to back cruise

We are doing a back to back cruise on Carnival's Dream in August. How does it work on back to back cruises? We are in the same stateroom so will we have to leave the ship to embark on the second cruise? Also, what services can we expect on the ship between the two cruises....:confused:

You will get instructions towards the end of the first leg. You will get a new cruise card, the last evening of the first leg. Generally, if the turnaround is at a US port, you will have to get off and go thru imigration. In foriegn ports this is not necesary.

 

The MDR and the buffet will be open for breakfast and lunch that day. There will be no activities that day (trivia, bingo, etc).

I forgot to add, you should check the roll call for your cruises. They are a great plae to met people sailing with you.

 

To join, go to the boards menu and scroll down to Roll Calls. Click on your cruise line. Then click on your ship. Finally, click on the thread for your sailing.

If you are returning to a USA port you will most likely (once in a while there is an exception) have to leave the ship and wait for a little while until the ship is cleared and you can return to the ship. You will turn in your card noting how much you spent as you would do if your cruise ended right there.

 

If you are outside of the USA with very few exceptions it is like any other normal day in port which means you can stay on the ship if you wish or go off and come right onto the ship.

In Port Canaveral, they will send you a letter the last night of the first leg. It will tell you to report to Guest Services at a specific time, usually between 9:30-10:00am. After all departing passengers have left the ship, they will give you your new Sail & Sign card, walk you off the ship to immigration, then back onto the ship and take the picture that is linked to the new card. they have to walk you off so that the ship is so that it is zeroed down. Once you are back on, the ship is yours for an hour or two until the new group of passengers start to board. Make sure to tell your cabin steward that you are staying for a second week...although they may know already. EM

Our situation is a little different. Our btb was booked as two cruises with two reservation numbers and two different cabins. (Same TA). We were told by the TA that the steward will move our things next door if we wish. As of now, that's all the info we've been given. Has anyone done this on NCL? Any problems we should expect?

Yes -- you will need to leave the ship to go through immigration since you will be sailing out of Port Canaveral -- it is a US port.

 

You will get a letter the last night of the first cruise. We have noticed that when we do back-to-back cruises on the newer ships our ID cards are coded so that we are not issued new ID cards and don't have to have our pictures taken again.

 

We have usually met around 9:30 to be escorted off the ship. Once the ship gets down to a Zero count than we were able to get back on.

 

We have had very little time to do anything by time we did this and the new passengers got on the ship.

 

We have done a ton of back-to-back cruises.

 

Glad you booked far enough in advance to have the same cabin for both cruises. We do the same.

You will still have to go through the immig. thing, not sure about when they take your pic for the new card...But if you want to leave the ship and go shopping/sightseeing, etc., ask at guest services (or whatever NCL calls it) for a transit pass. That way when you return, you don't have to wait in lines...just follow where the crew go. EM
