Mediterranean cruise passport stamps

My daughter and I are taking an Eastern Mediterranean cruise in November and I was told by a Costa Rep that passports are no longer being kept by the ship. Will it be possible to get the passports stamped in each country we are in?

Even when passports are collected, I've never had mine stamped on any cruise to any place. Only at the airport entering and exiting. Any Schengen country passport stamps are basically the same and they are not very interesting; just a square with a picture of a plane in the upper right hand side.

I can't imagine wasting time on a port stop to try and find someone who could stamp a passport.

Collecting stamps is a little less attractive a hobby now that it's no longer free to add pages to your passport. I once came close to filling mine up without trying hard...

Adding pages to a US Passport is free of charge at any US Embassy (that means outside the USA).

I do it regularly at the US Embassies in Beijing and Tokyo.

Normally takes about 15 minutes.

Once you are in Western Europe, travel is unimpeded from country to country. We entered Europe by way of Ponta Delgado. Its mid Atlantic, but part of Portugal. From there we hit Spain, France and Italy with no passport controls, and no one to stamp anything. We did not get stamped until we entered Britain.
