I know you can book some ungodly expensive behind the scenese tour of the ship. I have personaly done the kitchen and bridge tours. But, I was wandering if there was anyway a tour of other things sunch as the engine room and what not could be arranged? Surely there is someone on the boat who woud have the ability to make it happen. By the way, I'm about to sail on the Triumph.

I really don't think you can..for sure now that carnival is making money on those tours.

and even if you do take the tour you don't get to go into the engine room..just the engine control room.

I did the "Behind the Fun" tour on the Fantasy before she left Mobile. I personaly thank that it was the best money that I have ever spent on a cruise ship. I plan on taking the tour again on the Magic next year when I cruise on her. For what it is worth you do not actually go to the engine room on any of the ships tours, the tour does includes a very detailed visit to the Enginering Control spaces.

No chance due to security(post 9/11)......and especially since the have 'the behind the fun' tour which nets CCL plenty for the effort spent

We did the "Behind the Fun" tour on the Dream last year. I think it was worth the money. We were taken all over the ship and saw the areas where the crew and staff make it all happen. Everyone should do this tour one time to get a real veiw of how hard the crew and staff work.

I am sure that person that can get this arranged is the Captain try talking to him and see what he can do for you.

For what it's worth, there is a security screening on the Behind the Fun tour. The security officer looks through your bag and you are wanded with a metal detector. The officer accompanies the tour when it goes to the bridge, too. I doubt very much that you could just casually arrange a tour.

You sign up for the behind the fun tour at the excursion desk onboard. Cost is $55 or $95 depending on the length of the cruise (longer cruise = longer tour for some reason)

You can check Carnival's FAQ (search Behind the Fun) for more information.

Have fun

Its not free when they say call this number if you want to arrange for a private tour?? wow, they dont say it costs on the platinum perks letter. I havent called myself .. thought if it was a platinum perk, it must not cost.

For someone who has done the behind the scene tour, I was wondering how to sign up for it and when. Also what was the cost. We very much want to do this on the Miracle in January.

Claudia

We did it on the Dream - last February.

It was $95.00 per person and we made arrangements through the Excursion desk as soon as be boarded. They only were allowing 2 groups per sailing and there was a cap on the number in each group - 16 I think.

Platinum tour is galley only.

The only way to get a tour that you describe is to work for Carnival. And even then certain areas of the ship is restricted for the crew. Basically if you dont have a job related need in that area, you should not be there.

The tour price depends on the class of ship, not the length of the cruise. Basically Fantasy class ships are smaller thusly a shorter tour plus you do not get as much stuff as you would on the $95 tour.

The free tour for Platinum guest might be different according to what ship. We got a letter in our cabin to call the Platinum Concierge (another # not 7777) to arrange a tour on the Imagination. The tour consisted of the galley, the bridge, behind the show lounge and parts of the crew quarters.

Wasn't looking but I don't remember seeing the behind the scenes tour offered in the excursions for the 3 day Imagination. This was probably an abbreviated version of the real tour. We were escorted by the concierge with input from the AMD/galley, Assistant CD/show lounge, not sure who it was at the crews quarters or the bridge-but it was not the captain on the bridge.

There was no cost to us as Platinum Members. Not sure about the 4 other people that were on the tour with us.

The galley was preparing lunch for the dining room that morning. After the tour the food looked so good I did something I rarely do-ate lunch in the dining room-and it was really good.

Has never been offered to me before either. I was surprised at a lot of the "extras" I got on this 3 day cruise. It has been 8-9 years since I took a three day. Not only did I get the tour, my cabin was decorated with birthday decor (it was my birthday), the Carnival Players Club sent me a photo coupon, chocolate strawberries, a free drink in the casino each night and a bottle of wine at dinner the first night. Maybe because this was my 24th Carnival cruise and they wanted to make sure I booked #25-they didn't have to, its already booked for November.
