Tips, Tricks, or things to know about Carnivals Casinos

What you did feels rather dishonest to me. I can see if you walk up to a machine, load in your card and discover there's money remaining from a previous customer. But this woman left the machine, returned and appeared to be looking for her funds, though she didn't ask, and you guys said absolutely nothing. Quite frankly I would say you guys stole this woman's money and should have mentioned it to her, instead of waiting, that she left money on the machine. That's just my opinion of course and I know most others will probably differ.

I think I agree with you. If not outright wrong it is close enough to wish that karma reward him in kind. Waldocruiser1 took that woman's money. He knew who it belonged to and took it anyway. It wasn't money left behind by some anonymous person.

You know, if she had not been so rude, we would have, as we did on other occations, but in this situation, no.

Don't drink while in the casino. If you do, you will do stupid things like forget to upload your hard earned winnings to your S&S card, therefore leaving it for the next person who sits down at the slot machine you were just at.

The first thing I do when I get to the casino is get a hole punched in my S&S card, and then attach my "lucky" blue lanyard. This way, if I walk away from the slot machine without uploading my winnings, I will get pulled right back to the machine!

Move around to different slot machines - this way you have a better chance at "spreading the wealth" either by you winning or "contributing" to the casino!

I did pick up on that in your original posting, but...don't you think it would have been a great act of kindness, in the face of her rudeness, to show her that gesture of generosity. What a lesson that would have been to her.

But I'm thru with this because I don't want it to get out of hand, as you know things can easily do that at cc. I have alot of respect for the way you handle your postings, but this one hit a sour note. Have a good week!

Am new to cruise ship gambling, but for planning purposes, do I not need to bring cash with me for gambling? I can just use my S & S card and it just charged to my account? Is this the same for table games (ie can hand over my S&S card and ask for 100$ in chips). Is there any extra charge for this or is it just cheaper to bring my own cash?

to take your sign and sail to the tables to get cash will cost you 3%.

(i thought it was up to 5% last cruise)

you can use your sign and sail card at the slots and get cash-- for free then cash outyour card at the cashiers cage.

Slots are cashless. meaning you do not get money back from the machine. ANy winnings are put on your sign and sail casino account.

(which is seperate from your onboard account. This casino side MUST be cashed out the last night

If I win on the slot machine any amount over what I started with, I put it on my card and then take it to the cashier. I put my winnings in my pocket and go on with what I started with.:)

Last cruise my husband won a little over $1,000 on the first night on a $1 slot machine. He continued to win for the rest of the cruise and made enough to pay for the cruise plus all of our drinks. The cruise before that I won $1,000 on the Wheel of Fortune on the last night. Another cruise before that I kept hitting $500 and $800 on the Wheel of Fortune. We have had a lot of luck in the casino except for on the Splendor. It was brand new back then and I guess they had to pay for the ship before they could pay everyone else.

that is what I do as well. I have actually been "lucky" on three of my Carnival cruises. When I say lucky, nothing big time, but once 600.00 dollars, and another 250.00, and most recently on the Freedom, I had separate wins on slot machines for 150.00 and 400.00. I cashed out both times and brought that money home.:)

Another thing I saw for the first time on the Freedom was that once you achieved 1500 points in playing, you got a card which you could use for free drinks in the casino. I reached that level by day 4 on an 8 day cruise, so I did enjoy some nice bevvies while playing for the second half of my cruise.:D

I'm pretty much a roulette junkie on cruises, so I will tell you that I am 99% sure that the minimum is $5.00. You have to play $5.00 on the outside or $5.00 on the inside each spin. Inside, you don't have to put all $5.00 on one number; however. They give you $1 chips so you can hedge your $5 investment by playing 5 separate numbers... or betting two numbers side by side by placing one chip on the line that separates those numbers...or place one chip on a corner thus betting 4 different numbers etc. So give me five $1 chips and I can come up with lots of possibilities. Of course it doesn't pay a whole lot when one of my numbers hit, but it's fun and $50 usually keeps me at the table for hours.

One other time, DW and I were waiting for a machine, and when the lady (I say lady just because she was female, she was no lady) tried to get her friend to come from another machine to play hers because it was paying well, after a few choice words, she stormed off mad, making rude comments because we would not let her friend jump in front of us (we had been waiting about 15 minutes)

DW put in her card, loaded $10.00 and I realized it had over $100 on it, I had her cash out and reload, about that time, the "Lady" came back by, I think she was looking to see if we had her money, never asked, and we never said.

So you don't see that as stealing:confused: - you know the money doesn't belong to you, you know the person it belongs to and you knowingly kept it?

I guess if you can look yourself in the mirror in the morning

I think that some of the other posters are confused about what it means to have a lower min on roulette. What you described above is exactly what I've seen on all of my cruises. The colored chips are all worth $1, but you have to play a minimum of 5 of them per spin. So--it's a $5 minimum to play. On the first night, however, I have seen the min lowered to $3 (as it is on most table games on the first night). Again, the chips are still worth the same amount ($1), but you are required to play fewer of them when the mins are lowered. A

s any roulette player knows, the $1 roulette chips are not the same as the standard casino chips, as they are only good at that table. Any other casino chip ($5, $25, etc), however, can be used to play on the roulette table. While $5 is usually the min bet (and can be spread however you want on the table), I usually spread $10 per spin. I'm always amazed when I see players paint the board from top to bottom. They tend to hit something every spin, but I haven't figured out how that strategy can be a positive one over time.

I watched this on a NCL sailing where a lady put a $1 chip on each number. The problem was with a double 00 that takes $38. She was losing a $1 each time. A crowd started to gather. Some asking her how she was winning each time. Some were waiting for the end result when she would no longer have enough to cover the board. Once that happened and she didnt cover the 00, the wheel hit for 00 causing all her bets to be removed.

I have yet to see a 5.00 minimum on Roulette. Cheapest was .50 cents on the first night and 1.00 minimum the other times. (the outside play is still 5.00 per bet) I could take my 3.00 per play and play three numbers.

If it went up to 5.00 minimum I cant play no more. My money would go way too fast.

This is just my quirkey little process. I play only slots and start on quarter and 2 cent machines. I always put in a $20 and I ALWAYS play max credits (I rarely play the machines that require more than 3 credits).

As I'm playing I count the credits that I've won and when I'm down to just the amount of credits that I've won back, I play 1/2 of them and upload the other 1/2 to my players bank. If I win any credits while I'm playing with my winning credits I play 1/2 of those also.

I'll keep doing this until I've either finally gotten down to my cutoff mark, or I've won back more than I put in the machine to begin with and I get bored.

This last cruise on the Conquest I actually had to have my sister go get me a protien bar because I couldn't stop winning. After sitting at this one machine for probably an hour I finally just got tired of sitting there and cashed out $340 (on a $20 investment, it was a 2 cent machine the BMW ones)

At any time that I have over $30 of "their" money in my players bank I go play a $1 or $5 machine. I cash out my players bank each evening if it's more than $100 and use that money to keep my S&S card payed down.

Over the years I've been incredibly lucky in the ships Casino's and in 2008 I won $5500 on 3 different ships.

My take is if you knew who was at the machine, you tell them. If not, you have no way of knowing who's it is, take it.

Now that I went back and read all of the posts, if the lady was a real PITA I'm not sure what I would do. It is awfully tough to do it a few times just to get the nasties from her.

I might just say "tough luck" as you cannot stamp out ignorance. BUT as a rule, I think most people would tell them in normal circumstances. His point was to make sure and cash out regardless.

Make sure when you are finished with a slot machine, the money on the machine went to "0" and try to play it again, to make sure it is empty.

Or

I will come behind you and collect your money that you left on the machine.

several times on the Dream in April I went to a machine and put in my card, transfered money, it was always $10.00 increments, and found that I had more then $10.00 worth of credits. One time it was $85.00 on top of my $10. I took the money out and then put $10.00 again and played. Then I went to the cashier and cashed out $80.00 What a win!!!

So back to my original thought,

Make sure you leave the machine WITH your money on your card.

So, you actually kept her $$? and rationalized stealing with the excuse that she was rude??

Does that make you "Honest" or "Dishonest" in your book. Certainly not the "Good Book"
