Tips, Tricks, or things to know about Carnivals Casinos

If I win on the slot machine any amount over what I started with, I put it on my card and then take it to the cashier. I put my winnings in my pocket and go on with what I started with.:)

I totally agree. I do this in any casino I go to. I save what comes out and treat myself to a little something special - or a big something if I'm really lucky!

I have yet to see a 5.00 minimum on Roulette. Cheapest was .50 cents on the first night and 1.00 minimum the other times. (the outside play is still 5.00 per bet) I could take my 3.00 per play and play three numbers.

If it went up to 5.00 minimum I cant play no more. My money would go way too fast.

Destiny a month ago was $5 min...including the first night.

Also, when playing a game like blackjack, it's better to play with at a table where the players know what they are doing. Of course if you're the one that doesn't know how to play, don't be afraid to ask for help. Much better to ask for advice if you don't know to hit on the 13 when dealer is showing a 6. It will be much worse if you pull the 10 that would have been the dealer's bust card.

Now that's just silly. It makes no difference to your odds of winning how poorly someone else at the table plays. Taking a hit on 13 is just as likely to clear a card from the top of the deck that would have helped the dealer as it is to clear one that would hurt.

What makes you think the second card on the deck when the player hits on 13 is any more likely to help the dealer than the first?

I could see it would be annoying to watch someone make bad plays when you know better, but it doesn't impact your odds at all.

So, you actually kept her $$? and rationalized stealing with the excuse that she was rude??

Does that make you "Honest" or "Dishonest" in your book. Certainly not the "Good Book"

Al

I'm just curious if "the lady" really wanted her money back, she could have asked the folks at the slot machine, or she perhaps could have gone to the Player's Club-may have been able to have them check out the security videos, as everything is monitored, and recorded in the casinos.....I agree that the actions of Waldocruiser1 is certainly not in the "Good Book"......

Play the Tournaments... on my first cruise, for a 25.00 investment, I won the blackjack tourny and walked away with 265.00, a trophy (yeah) and a free polo shirt...

It was lucky for you, but the odds are definitely against winning. The slot tournaments will typically have one prize of $500. Yet, 100 or more people may sign up and pay $20 each. Do the math.

Your right, the odds are the odds regardless.

My son and I were just talking about that the other night as we are getting ready to cruise next month.

I always get a kick out of people that think they need to be at third base and get's all PO'd when a novice takes "their" card. You never see them complain when someone takes "their" card and it would have busted them .

I always think if that bothers someone how I play (or don't play in their eyes) there are two options, I can walk or they can.

Make sure when you are finished with a slot machine, the money on the machine went to "0" and try to play it again, to make sure it is empty.

Or

I will come behind you and collect your money that you left on the machine.

several times on the Dream in April I went to a machine and put in my card, transfered money, it was always $10.00 increments, and found that I had more then $10.00 worth of credits. One time it was $85.00 on top of my $10. I took the money out and then put $10.00 again and played. Then I went to the cashier and cashed out $80.00 What a win!!!

One other time, DW and I were waiting for a machine, and when the lady (I say lady just because she was female, she was no lady) tried to get her friend to come from another machine to play hers because it was paying well, after a few choice words, she stormed off mad, making rude comments because we would not let her friend jump in front of us (we had been waiting about 15 minutes)

DW put in her card, loaded $10.00 and I realized it had over $100 on it, I had her cash out and reload, about that time, the "Lady" came back by, I think she was looking to see if we had her money, never asked, and we never said.

So back to my original thought,

Make sure you leave the machine WITH your money on your card.

Soooooo you are a thief?

I think casino staff could figure out whose money was left in a machine by tracking their card. Maybe not but I would sure bring it to someone's attention.

I have to be careful in Carnival casinos because most my cruises are on RCI and they don't have the card set up so I'm not used to it. I do love it though and wish RCI would start doing that too.

Man I would never never take that money! I think it would be a jinx and my luck would sure suck after I did something like that! Even if the lady was a PITA!

Beware of the craps training/demo! It isn't representative of real-life odds. It pays off much more often than the real deal because the demo is done with loaded dice. (Notice the holes bored all the way through them...)

Are you sure? I find that hard to believe but I learned a long time ago, one never knows for sure.

The real life odds are the odds regardless. Now how often a number comes up with trick dice is a different thing. I'll try to check next time (if I eant to waste time going to the "craps school" anyway.

have a great day.

a signature drink are those listed on the drink menu at the bars. an example would be a Long Island Ice Tea. these usually run about $8-9. A drink of the day or DOD, is the featured drink of each day on the cruise. These tend to run a little less, let's say, 3.50 or something. A different DOD is featured in your daily Fun Times. Examples would be a Yellow Bird, Bahama Mama.......And I will be drinking each DOD within 24 days, whoo hoo:D

There is a reason they call it "gambling" and not "winning" I love the casino. It's my favorite thing to do on the ship. Just never gamble more than you can afford to lose. I take with me my "entertainment fund" and when it's gone I'm done. Cash your chips in nightly so you have to pay for them again with money and it keeps you in check. I have paid for trips with winnings and I have left ships with nothing left. Either way, it was entertainment.

The holes that are drilled through the dice are done when they are taken out of play by the casino. They only use the dice for so long.

That makes sense as I've seen plenty of those in Vegas. The "loaded" dice theory I'd never heard of.

That is true enough, but the placement of the hole definitely affects the odds of a given number turning up.

In any case, I'm sure the dice used in actual game play are legitimate. I'm just saying that during the training session I watched, which used holed dice, there were alot more 7 hits than chance would normally dictate; and the placement of the holes looked like it was meant to encourage that result. I figured the idea was to get people thinking that such results were "easy".

I won the blackjack tourny on our last cruise which was rci. I was wondering if carnival had one (not that I think I will be lucky enough to do that again)

As there are more 10 value cards in there than anything else, (10, J, Q, K) that's not true. If you play progressive, and increase your bet when you've won several hands in a row, it only takes a person doing that once, and the dealer making a hand instead of busting, for it to cost you big time. If I see someone clearly guessing instead of playing the odds or splitting 10's, I leave the table. Once in a while it helps keep the dealer from making a hand, but blackjack is math not guessing like baccarat, and more often that person will screw up that hand and if you go on a losing streak after that, their taking an extra card may have just changed every hand after.

There is usually a slot and a blackjack tournament on CCL - $20 to enter, free if you're platinum. First prize is $500, other finalists get T Shirts.
