nimiq Posted October 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2010 Hello all, Can anyone tell me if we can find this dish on the Ruby Princess for Nov. We have had Osso Bucco so far on 2 of Princess ships that is the Diamond and the Sapphire as both have that 4 call MDR. This is my favorite dish and Princess make it better than a land restaurant. sea ya Eric
Pam in CA Posted October 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2010 Unlike the Diamond and the Sapphire, none of the other Princess ships have Osso Bucco more than once during a cruise, if that. My suggestion is to speak to the Maitre d' and request it for a specific night or nights. They will make it for you, even if it's not on the menu, with 24-hour notice. Rare geoherb Posted October 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2010 We were on the Sapphire in August. I had the osso bucco the last night and enjoyed it very much. I never thought about asking for it on my next cruise, which will be on the Island.
molme Posted October 14, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2010 I have to ask, what is "osso bucco"? Never heard of it and in case it is offered on our sailing would like to try it if I know what it is. Thanks
skellis Posted October 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2010 osso bucco is a braised veal shank on the bone. Usually with some kind of tomato based cooking sauce. The meat is very tender and you can eat the bone marrow with a small spoon. I have not had it on Princess, but it is delicious at the restaraunts where I have had it. RickEk Posted October 14, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2010 The osso bucco on Princess is good. Not the best I've had, but apparently to be perfectly prepared it needs to simmer in a vegetable broth overnight. Yum!
goodie2shoes Posted October 14, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2010 We have found it on the lunch menu on most cruises. I don't think I have seen it on dinner, but if it is I would expect to see it on Italian Night. It is very good and very rich!
Cruisematic Posted October 15, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Found it at the Cafe Caribe late one night on the Emerald. Great stuff.
Putterdude Posted October 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Princess serves it on a bed of rice which I always find interesting as my favourite Italian restaurant serves it on pasta which I prefer.
Carol & Jim Posted October 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 15, 2010 When we were on the Sapphire this year, you could get it in the dining room that turns into an "anytime dining room" at 8pm. Can't remember the name of the dining room... where's that ship map??.....I think it's the Vivaldi. Love the Osso Bucco on Princess! That and souffles but they're getting skimpy on the souffles anymore, darn it!
