travelmatron Posted October 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Looking at the threads about Half Moon Cay, in the Ports of Call section, it seems that cabana rentals are $225 for Carnival passengers and $299 for HAL passengers. Is this gouging or is our experience worth $74.00 more than what Carnival passengers get? I certainly must be missing something.
CtheW0rld Posted October 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2010 nope, they just cost more. hal is a more expensive line. gotta keep to riff-raff out.
Texas Tillie Posted October 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Economics 101 - supply and demand. If Carnival thought they could sell out at the higher price, they'd charge that much too! :D:p:cool:
canadarocks Posted October 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2010 While I'm not excusing the difference in price, I believe on HAL you can pre-reserve a cabana before you board the ship and on Carnival you cannot.
Randyk47 Posted October 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2010 It's got nothing to do with what they're worth, it's what Carnival and Holland America can get for them. Think about it, even $225 for probably less than 8 hours is expensive, right up there with some of the finer hotel rooms. Of course....:)....we get one every time we stop at HMC. jtl513 Posted October 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Maybe when HAL uses them they bring out the good linens and china! :D
DRWhit Posted October 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2010 I think HAL passengers tend to get drunker and wilder, and cause more damage to the cabanas ;)

CruiserBruce Posted October 20, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2010 gotta keep to riff-raff out. Well, this plan isn't working. We are going back for our 4th and 5th visits, with our 2nd and 3rd cabanas, in 2011.

adjoankora Posted October 20, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Does anyone know if there will be other ships using Half Moon Cay on December 4th and, if so, which ones? We will be on Zuiderdam for the Dec 3rd Panama Sunfarer and have reserved a cabana (orange). Just wondering....Thanks much!:D

Typhoon1 Posted October 20, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2010 This question has been kicked around on the private islands board numerous times. The consensus: You can pre reserve on line. CCL cruisers indicated they would be willing to pay more if they had that convenience.
