SciFiCruiser Posted October 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2010 Can anyone let me know what other options there are for lunch on the fist day beside the Wind"JAMMER"? I want to avoid it like the plague from all I have read about it especially on the first day! I have read about the roast beef sandwiches at the Park Cafe, but have also read that it is not such a secret anymore. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated! The Grumpus Posted October 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2010 The Solarium Bistro is a nice area for lunch - consistently seemed less crowded than other non-pay venues available for breakfast & lunch. The Wipeout Cafe isn't bad either if you're looking for hamburgers, hot-dogs, tacos and stuff like that. The bar on the boardwalk has some pre-packaged meals that were not too bad and you can chow-down on them right there, quick & easy...

On your 1st day your choices are Solarium Bistro, Park Cafe, Vitality Cafe, Wipe Out Cafe, Mondo Bar, Sorrento's. Enjoy:)

yogimax Posted October 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We did the Park Cafe and the roast beef sandwich. Excellent! They also have other toasted sandwiches which are great!
Puffinater Posted October 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2010 As previously mentioned the Park Cafe is no longer a secret. Get there early if you can.
sailingawaysoon Posted October 25, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We liked the Park Cafe, it was a little crowded, but there were plenty seats in the Central Park area, so I think you will be fine. I think the other recommendation on the Solarium Bistro was a good one. Do whatever you must to avoid the windjammer. Also, the pizza shop wasn't very crowded. Have a great cruise. cravingthis Posted October 25, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We did the Park Cafe and the roast beef sandwich. Excellent! They also have other toasted sandwiches which are great! Hi Yogimax - was the roast beef very rare, or could you order it "medium?" I've seen pictures and the beef looked so red. What kind of salads and desserts did the Park Cafe have? Was coffee/tea also available, or do we have to go elsewhere for the free drinks? Thanks!
cb at sea Posted October 25, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2010 Eat a late breakfast before you board, and you should be good to go for hours!

What kind of salads and desserts did the Park Cafe have? Was coffee/tea also available, or do we have to go elsewhere for the free drinks? Thanks! Hi red-dragon.. The roast beef was already cooked so you couldn't order it in a special way. My sense was that it was pretty "medium." There were some excellent salads. You could make your own but I enjoyed a pre-made Asian shrimp salad. There were drinks available.
hazeleyes35 Posted October 25, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We went to Johnny Rockets for lunch the 1st day. It was empty.

tmoret Posted October 25, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 25, 2010 Park Cafe by far was my favorite place for lunch. Johnny Rockets was the best for breakfast. JR breakfast is free in the mornings.

Drinks are there. Salads are a mini-MDR salad bar salad. Desserts like Windjammer stuff.
