cruznlobo Posted October 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Carnival addict/Thinking of Celebrity We are thinking of a Celebrity cruise in 2011. We are Carnival addicts but are willing to try anything. What should we be looking forward to if we cruise Celebrity?
YB Nrml Posted October 26, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2010 You might want to go to the Celebrity boards and ask this question. I have friends who love Celebrity, more adult oriented. And no, not in an X-rated way ! ;)
stefndoug Posted October 26, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2010 I love Celebrity and I have done 4 Carnival cruises. It is different, but I like the change. I like the food better on Celebrity and I like that it is a little quieter. You don't get annoucements over the intercom all the time (like Carnival) and I like the more relaxing atmosphere. Cruzaholic41 Posted October 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Carnival addict/Thinking of Celebrity We are thinking of a Celebrity cruise in 2011. We are Carnival addicts but are willing to try anything. What should we be looking forward to if we cruise Celebrity? What ship? Most of Celebrity's fleet is older and they are working on refurbishing them. If you are considering a Solstice Class ship (Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox, Silhouette), I highly recommend going for it. These ships are absolutely beautiful and the service is excellent. The adults only Solarium pool is heaven. The only downside if you are a Carnival lover is the activities. There are far less activities and the ship does tend to fall asleep earlier. If you are a smoker, this is not the cruise line for you. Otherwise, it is the best. There is only one small area of one lounge they allow smoking inside. Otherwise, the rest of the ship's interior, including the entire casino, is smoke free. They also do not allow smoking on balconies.

Millenium class is a little older, but it's one of my favourite group of ships. I agree though... a lot less activities. I am so looking forward to the less smoking allowed on this ship. I can see though if you are a smoker, that Celebrity would not be the way to go. Stefani
MonaCD Posted October 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2010 We cruised the Celebrity Constellation on our last cruise and enjoyed it very much. I guess it depends on what attracts you to carnival as to whether you'll enjoy celebrity. As others have stated, it's a quieter crowd, less children, less crazy games and activities. On celebrity we ejoyed the thelassotherapy pool which you didn't have to pay extra to use (it is extra on the Dream). We got a concierge cabin on Celebrity which gives you the same sort of or better perks then you can only get as a platinum cruiser on carnival. And we got an excellent price for a 10 day cruise, comparable to carnival. After our next cruise I may just switch to Celebrity as our preferred cruise line. caribsun Posted October 26, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2010 We love Celebrity for top notch service and presentation of the evening meals. You will need to wear your Sunday best to dinner, no shorts or t shirts.
mavis2222 Posted October 26, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Its worth a try just for the smoking rules. I may consider it for my next cruise.
Rare mizLORInj Posted October 26, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2010 I tried Celebrity out and liked it. But I will still sail other lines.
yogimax Posted October 26, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2010 We sailed on the Millenium and it was an excellent experience. As others have alluded, the fact that there was no smoking in the casino was a real joy. Celebrity ships are decorated very nicely and the food quality is a step above RCCL, Carnival and NCL. We have the Summit booked for next March out of San Juan.
halos Posted October 26, 2010 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2010 if you can, try to book a Consierge Class cabin. The service is outstanding on Celebrity and being in that class of cabin, it is even better. :) I say, GO for it. Variety is good!!

happygilmore Posted October 27, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 27, 2010 We would like to try Celebrity. We have been cruising with Carnival for the last 4 years and I think it might be time for a change. My only concern is that my husband is a very picky eater and we loved having the grill and pizzaria on the Carnival ships. RCCL didnt have much to offer him unless we went up to Johnny Rocket's so he was always hungry on that ship. We wouldnt mind if the ship was quieter or had less kids. We would love the non smoking casino. We will definately look into cruising with Celebrity

SMSACE6 Posted October 27, 2010 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2010 I was a Carnival addict! That changed when they dropped their solo pricing at 150pc for 1a staterooms. I know Celebrity doensnt always give solos a break, but if I have to pay 200pc for travelling alone, regardless of price, I will take my business elsewhere. Celebrity remains at top of my list for my 2011 cruise. I remember many things about my one previous Celebrity cruise, ie; excellent service by all shipboard staff. Superior buffet, with staff available to find you a table at busy times. Excellent dining room food, and service. Excellent wine list with a dedicated dining room drink waiter. Things may have changed, but I have the best of memories. I still like Carnival very much and had a great cruise recently on the Freedom, but I feel that I must "spread my wings"!:)
