11:45 am Flight Home after Cruise docks at 7 am - doable?

I was reading another thread and am worried that I have to change my flights.

We are first time cruisers coming and leaving from Fort Lauderdale Airport (flying out of JFK-NY). The cruise ends on Monday morning at 7 am.

We are scheduled to take an 11:45 am flight out of Ft. Lauderdale back to NY. Is that too early? Should we move it to an afternon flight??

Nope... From Pt. Everglades to Ft. Laud...is only about 15 mins....totally doable! You don't even need to do the 'self-carryoff' thing. Just tell them (midway thru the cruise) that you have an early flight. You'll be in one of the 1st groups off the ship.

The only thing to worry about is whether there are a lot of ships in port that morning. Our biggest delay was a record-setting day with 15 ships in port (Dec. 21, 2003). There weren't enough taxis for all the people. Fortunately for us, we arranged to stay an extra night in Fort Lauderdale and weren't in a hurry to leave the ship.

Last March, our flight was 11 a.m. We had plenty of time.
