This does make you wonder......

This is part of a review for the Eclipse. When I see something like this, I have to wonder. Been on 20 Celebrity cruises and always had a good time, service and food. Was everything perfect? Of couse not, but I've cruised enough on other lines to know what good is and that's Celebrity (for me anyway). Still, you wonder....

There is a reason why Carnival Corporation owns 50% of the cruise market. It's because they have the best product line. RCL will never match Carnival. From now on I will only go on Holland America Line. Celebrity is not even in the same ballpark with HAL. In fact, I have had better cruises, better food, better entertainment and better service on Carnival Cruise Line. Lots' of people like to badmouth Carnival, but I have never had a bad Carnival Cruise. Holland America is in a class by itself for the large mass market cruise lines. HAL is truly 5 star. Celebrity is a joke.

Carnival owns 50% of the cruise market because of all the cruise lines they own..duh:rolleyes:! Guess I don't get the joke here either.

Would like to read the post in its entirety. Certainly not my opinion, but we're all different. Obviously they enjoy the Carnival product and they should continue to buy it. Once their taste matures they'll come over to Celebrity;)

You just have to learn to ignore the crazy posts. I am partial to HAL myself but that certainly does not make Celebrity or RCL for that matter, bad cruise lines.

There is a cruise line for everybody and you can get good/bad cruises on most ANY line.

Celebrity is my Cruise Line of choice, but have cruised on a number of others, including Carnival, and have enjoyed every cruise. Agree that there are plus and minuses on every cruise and every Cruise Line, but a cruise/cruise line is a "joke"?

Thats silly and without reading their review, would not be interested in their opinon of Celebrity or any other Line.

Have never done a Carnival, however very much like Princess and Hal. BUT Celebrity is my fav. A very good friend who had only cruised Princess (likes Princess very much AND loves crusing) tried Carnival and her statement to me upon their retun home was "if our first cruise had been on Carnival we probably would have never tried cruising again"

OK I lied and read the review!

Even if you aren't a Celebirty fan, you Have to read it. Great entertainment. Loved that he was upset he was 'lectured' by an "Eastern European cocktaill waitress" about sharing his package drink. I guess it would have been OK if the waitress was from the Philippines as he says they all are on HAL...what???? He was embarrased she said something to him in front of people..I guess he wanted her to take him out in the hall and lecture him. Personaly, I know not to share my drinks in front of the waitstaff (especially if they're Eastern Euros!); my wife and I share them by sipping them under the table!

It was sillier than I thought it was going to be. Not only were the crew/service personnel rude and arrogant, the fellow passengers were rude and "very" arrogant. Too bad he didn't meet me, I would have told him "I only stay at hotels that I buy so I don't have to 'mingle' with his type".

Read it as well. Celebrity's multinational crew is a positive. I really enjoy learning from these wonderful young ambassadors from 100 different lands. One of the Eastern European cocktail servers has a degree in Engineering and would be a difficult match for anyone who reads these boards in a trivia contest.

if you cruise a lot, you will have a bad experience on any line. we have had plumbing backups on three cruises, two different lines, we were not even in the cabin at the time, returned to cabin after dinner and cabin was flooded................

some passengers are very rude to the point of being sickening......there's usually one on every sailing............been sneezed on sitting at the show, had to leave for the ladies room to wash off my arm............never said she was sorry........

we had many disembarking nightmares/noisy neighbors/children unsupervised/and or touching the buffet food. we have missed tours because our wake up call never came..................

we are still cruising, recently sailed on mercury, one of our best cruises ever................i like to remain possitive...........:)

"The ports, except St. Maarten were terrible. The water and beach are dirty at Labadee (private island) and there are rocks that will cut your feet. Meagan's Bay in St. Thomas is very overrated. It is crouded and the beach stinks like urine. The water is not clear and dirty. The beach in Grand Cayman is much nicer. It is NOT one of the world's 10 best beaches. I wonder who St. Thomas paid off for that rating. "

Well, I guess, Celebrity didn't do a good job, preparing islands for " his majesty" arrival.....

So funny........

It seemed to me he was blaming Celebrity for problems he could have researched (ie-Qsine being a long event), drink sharing etc. Good and bad things can happen on any ship and it seems to me like he was determined to have a worse time on Celebrity than any Carnival owned option, to each their own, more room for the rest of us ;)

My guess is that the casino wouldn't limit his cash advances or refuse to put casino charges on his account, he didn't restrict himself, and now he has to pay his gambling debts. He has to be mad at somebody, and it is not going to be at himself.

While cruising, on more than one occasion, I've heard individuals complain about food, staff, service, etc. I often wonder if these people are on the same ship as I am. I guess you can't please all the people all the time.

This person evidently has preferences that are set in stone, seems to be culturally intolerant, and does not like change of any kind. I notice a lot of bias in many of the remarks, and think I'll chalk it up to a completely unrealistic review. I once knew another person like this.......:D

Well, this is the Celebrity boards, so most of us here are Celebrity fans and really enjoy this cruise line. But we should occasionally remind ourselves that not everyone shares our opinion ---- over on the Carnival boards, I'm sure they are just as devoted to their line. A couple years back, we coaxed my sister and her husband, both big Carnival fans, to join us on a Celebrity cruise, thinking they would love it. Big mistake. They complained about almost everything from the time they boarded, and compared it unfavorably to Carnival. We had a great time (except for listening to them, of course.) It justs goes to show, one size does NOT fit all. And it's just as well, or Celebrity would be really hard to book and the prices would go sky high. All the cruise lines have their fans and that's just fine with me.

Oh dear. Now I'm really, really worried as I board the Eclipse a week from tomorrow. Guess it won't be the wonderful experience I've been expecting.

Guess I should have booked Carnival instead - well, HAL!:D

Actually have been on one HAL cruise and loved it - same with two RCCL cruises and one Celebrity. I even enjoyed my two NCL cruises and learned that a cruise is what we make of it. And, as Cynbar says, one size does not fit all.

Good riddance. Many of the things not acceptable had nothing to do with Celebrity. Nothing about the weather though, so Celebrity must have arranged that one to his liking. What is "clear and dirty water"?

I asked to limit access to cash advances in the casino and not be able to charge casino credits to the room card. All other cruise lines I have sailed with in the past honored my request. Celebrity did not. They even had my picture and knew I requested to be excluded from taking cash advances and charging them to my room for the purpose of casino play. Casino staff told me they would give me cash advances anyway that it did not matter to them. I could get as much as I wanted. Another disappointment.

This guy has bigger problems than arrogant guests and staff, poor food and crappy beaches. Or, so it seems . . . .
