Port of Miami security question

Hi everyone,

I'm leaving on a cruise out of the port of Miami on March 5th. I was wondering what type of security I would have to go through.

 

Do they have those new body scanners that are in airports?

 

Do you have to do a patdown?

 

Take off shoes?

Our luggage was taken to x-ray and delivery, the rest was the same as the airports, not the full body scanner, just walk through the metal detector.

 

Liquids are allowed as per cruise line (water - yes, booze - no) and no taking the shoes off.

I just like to know what I'm going in to security wise. I hate getting to the front of the line only to realize I need my shoes off. Or I wear a dress then they say "too constricting to search." (I had to change into this flimsy pants for a pat down at an airport)

 

Needless to say I like to be prepared so I can get through security quick and on to my destination!!

If you set off the machines, they use one of those hand held detectors on you, but they don't do much more than that.

Miami port security is kind of like the old pre-9/11 AP security -- you can wear your shoes & there is no pat down. They are looking for metal -- weapons etc. & bottles of booze which will be confiscated. Other liquids are OK.
