Durhampro Posted February 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2011 We just booked our first cruise, it so happens that it departs the day before halloween, so we will be at sea for halloween. Do cruise ships do anything different for halloween? Should we be bringing costumes? Thanks
firefly333 Posted February 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2011 What ship, what cruiseline? Im betting they are not all the same. Iv been on Carnival and they had a costume contest at night and paraded around, and they had a special dessert for dinner, two choices, decorated Halloween theme. LarryL Posted February 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I've only done halloween on RCCL and they had many different things going on for the kids and adults including a costume parade that went on well into the night. We are doing another this fall and plans are being made for Halloween festivities on that sailing. Your question may be better asked on the Norwegian boards. There you will find many NCL cruisers who should be easily able to answer your questions. It is a lot of fun on the ship.

paul929207 Posted March 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2011 We were on the Ocean Princess for halloween in 2009. Ship was decorated and there was a costume party and contest.
Durhampro Posted March 1, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Well I guess we will bring costumes and if nothing else, we will have fun. I posted the same question on the Norwegian board but no one seems to be answering.
Cuizer2 Posted March 1, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2011 On the Queen Mary they let the ghosts out. However, you probably did not book a cruise on the Queen Mary (since it cannot move).
Durhampro Posted March 1, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Ghosts would be cool, although we are doing Harry Potter World before our cruise. I think that is where we will get our costumes.

This past fall on the QM2, Halloween was the sea day between Halifax and Brooklyn. [Luggage out in the hallways after dinner] On the ship there were 1) A Jack-O-lantern contest - passengers judged the 30+ entries carved by chefs and galley staff 2) Costume dinner and an organized [escorted] trick or treat parade by the little folk [children's program]. 3) Costume parade [QM2 Dancers] and costume ball in the Queens room [Dance music by Vibes - the resident Caribbean band]. My wife and I danced from 10 'till about
