What's the strangest thing you've ever seen on a cruise?

On my last cruise (Mariner of the Seas) I came back to my cabin to find my cabin mate totally butt naked putting on a "show" in our promenade view bay window for the occupant directly across from our cabin. I was horrified to say the least. I couldn't believe that he haven't been reported to security. He stopped once I came back, but he wasn't too happy that he had too.

Great thread!

Can't come close to matching some of the ones posted, but we did see a lot of strange costumes on a Halloween cruise a few years back. One gal improvised and went to the party wearing her swim mask and snorkel.

Another time we saw a lady who was apparently a cougar-her cub wore sort of a gold lame (sp?) bathing suit every day.

Thanks for a bunch of laughs.

And they were tighty whities...but nothing from Quest should count anyway;)

The strangest was a couple who dressed identically throughout the cruise; not alike, as in same colors, but in the exact same brand and style of clothing, wearing hats that proclaimed their love for one another by name. Really! But they could cut a great rug at Boleros and they looked like they just adored each other!!

But, I'm sure someone thought I was the strangest thing they have ever seen ("look at her...who doesn't gamble on a cruise ship...weird!!"):D

Many years ago we were on Celebrity Century over 4th of July. An older German lady, with leather wrinkled skin, was wearing a sequenced American flag teeny bikini. It was not a fun sight to see:rolleyes:.

Definitely the hairless, elderly, very tan gentleman (think George Hamilton in 30 years), had to be 80 years old with a 20-something woman who HAD to be a hooker. 3" hot pink nails, huge ta-ta's, big hair, in a thong out by the pool. I need to find my pic.....

She was his niece. They always are.

I was on the same cruise as RubberDuck that had the Santa...it wasn't strange though, it was really fun! It was a few weeks before Christmas, and he appeared to be alone, but was always in "character" with his red suspenders and then the full santa suit on formal night. We only had a few kids on that cruise, but he was patient with them (but never seemed inappropriate) and took photos with everyone. The cruise director made a lot of him at events and shows too, but we think he was just a passenger! If he was single, it was a great ice breaker!

These are such funny stories and a good reminder of why RCI is my favorite cruise line. There are similar threads on Carnival and Celebrity. Carnival's stories are mostly "party till you puke", and Celebrity's are mostly about older people and bodily functions.

My favorite was the woman arguing at Guest Services on the Majesty before it sailed demanding to see the captain IMMEDIATELY because her coffee pot had been confiscated and she could only take her meds and eat while drinking the special brand of coffee she brought. Otherwise, she apparently would be the first person to starve to death on a cruise.

The second best was having my 14 year old nephew thrown out of a hot tub at 2:00AM and escorted to his cabin by the Youth Security Patrol on the Caribbean Princess, with the two much older hotties he was there with arguing that he should be able to stay because they would watch over him.

A middle aged very drunk woman. Travelling alone, came to dinner very drunk, she was loud and rude. Then all of a sudden she went quiet. She was choking on a peice of meat. She began to turn blue and pass out. I jumped up and did the himlich maneuver on her. The meat was dislodged as her airway cleared. ( she puked on her plate.) The others at her table left in disgust and she asked to see the dessert menu. No kidding. The waiters served her. Can you believe it??

That takes the cake!

For us it was all of the waiters singing "God Bless America" on Memorial Day. While it certainly was a touching thing to do, we laughed a little inside when they got to the part about "my home, sweet home" since probably none of them were from America.

I realize our story isn't that strange, but I was just wondering if anybody has any really strange stories to share.

On the Canival Fantasy in the early 90,s they had a American themed night. In the dining room were many American service men in full dress uniforms, very impressive. The Star Spangled Banner was sung and everyone stood respectfully, even us Canadians. Not to be out done when everyone sat down our group ,(approx.60) started to sing Oh Canada, with out exception every Marine ,sailor, airman soldier in the room stood at attention .I have never seen such a show of respect.

Maybe her bags where lost?

Nope, as I mentioned before, she changed out her Pajamas to different ones. I saw her in about three different PJs. And also different slippers.

During QUEST on Enchantment in January, our CD asked for men to come up with 3 bras. Women around the room started to gracefully unhook their bras and slide them off from under their tops...except for one women who used a different method. I can't remember exactly what our CD exclaimed, but everyone's attention was suddenly drawn to this unfortunate woman who was completely topless and trying to cover herself with crossed arms. The CD offered her his leather jacket, and she tore out of the room with it as he cried "Hey I need it back!".The entire place cracked up! I laughed so hard I think I hurt myself. Even our topless player was laughing as she fled and later returned fully clothed with the missing coat.

A few years before, I was on my first ever cruise with my Mother and Sister on the Zuiderdam. If you've ever been on a HAL ship, you may have noticed that things can get quiet later in the evening. My Sis and I would go to the disco to enjoy some music and dance a bit. At best, there would be one or two other couples but usually, it was just us. Every night, a man who appeared to be 60 or 70 would slide (and I mean sliiiide) into the disco wearing an acre of gold chains, a shirt and dress pants, sunglasses and a George-Hamilton tan. He would stand with his back to a pole in the centre of the dance floor, unbutton his shirt to the waist, light a cigarette and slither up and down the pole as if he was auditioning for Chippendale's!

My sister and I fell in love with cruising anyway!

On the Freedom last May as we were sitting in the champagne bar, we look up to see a teenage boy dancing in his promenade window minus his clothing. My sister went to take a picture, for memories sake haha, and made eye contact with the boy, it was at this moment I think he realized that people could actually see into his room. 10 minutes later we were pointing out which room it was to the rest of our family, and in the room next door, another man forgot to shut his curtain before getting in the shower and was doing so minus his clothing as well, with no shame at all. 2 shows for the price of 1...good times...definitley a moment we won't forget=

Last week, while on the Jewel of the Seas, we took an excursion to Stingray City In Georgetown. Our excursion boat was 75% German tourists (an Aida boat was docked at the same time).

Just prior to reaching the site, we noticed MANY people changing into their swimsuits right out in the open, in full view of everybody (including many kids - lots of them American or Canadian, who are not used to full nudity in public like that!)

But the best (worst?) part of it was after the excursion on the way back, in which several Germans stripped down again to change back into dry clothing.

Seeing a fully naked (and hairy) 70-ish German man drying his, uh, berries, right in the middle of the boat was a site neither of us will soon forget. Talk about looking in the wrong direction at the wrong time!

Also the 30-ish German body builder guy in a Speedo who paraded around the boat posing (arms crossed, or the best - hands at hips) all while looking around making sure people were watching him, was pretty entertaining. My girlfriend stopped a few feet behind him while on the way back from the bar and stood there, hands on hips, mimicking him. I almost spit out my drink! Wish I had the camera on for that...

November 2007 on the Jewel, we sat with another family whom we had never met before. They had a daughter around 3 years old.

I came home from that cruise & started watching a cruise video I had taken 2 years prior on the Radiance. As I am watching a segment I taped of people waiting to enter the dining room, who do I see in the background...the same couple with a baby in a stroller!!! I contacted them to confirm that they were on that sailing...and they were!

As the saying goes, It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it. (Steven Wright?)

Few years ago we were in St. Thomas for my birthday and I got breakfast room service before we went ashore. I brought the food to the balcony and forgot the coffee. I went to get the coffee, turned around to go out and saw four seagulls on the balcony rail staring at me. Those suckers are big.

Funny story. My Dad loves to cruise... my Mom not so much. So, he always takes me or one of my cousins (who are all female). You can imagine the looks my 70 year old father gets with his 30-something blonde, busty nieces in tow.

When he and I went on our last cruise together, they kept asking him if I was his wife. I kept telling them I was his daughter. He got so sick of hearing it, that the last store we went into he told the man who said, "Buy your wife a diamond!"

"That's not my wife. I leave her at home."

Way to make me sound like a hoochie home wrecker, Dad. LOL!!!;)

DW and I were in Port Canaveral terminal waiting to board when we spotted a woman with a purse that had a big clock in the side. I said (a little too loudly, apparently) "Yo, Yo! Flava Flav". Wouldn't have been so bad, but there were a BUNCH of women around us with similar purses.

Oh that is too funny. A few years ago I was at a fashion show with my then boss, I said that the clock purse was "interesting" and the next thing I knew - I got the purse for Christmas. Not that I didn't appreciate her generousity, but I soon learned to be careful what I commented on...lol.

Same goes for crows in Alaska. These ones were the small ones.

I guess, I'm lucky, I haven't seen that much that is strange on a cruise. I guess the strangest thing I have ever seen on a cruise was a man berating a young girl who was working at the guest services desk. My hearing is such that I couldn't make out what had him so upset, though that wasn't for his lack of trying to be heard around the entire ship. He was also turning beat red, and not from sunburn. He was gyrating wildly, beating his fist on the counter and jumping around. It was a huge spectacle. Unless the captain personally beat his wife with a ball bat, I couldn't imagine what had him so upset.

As fate would have it, when he finally walked away, I was next. The girl was still shaken when I walked up and couldn't quite muster a smile. I told her that I just came back on board because our excursion had been canceled last minute because of equipment malfunction and that we were told by RCI personnel in the port that our money would be refunded. That information hadn't made it back to their desk yet, but I waited quietly while her supervisor radioed the excursion people who were still in the port and verified this. I smiled and went on my way.
