If Carnival and Royal Caribbean were the same price what line would you pick?

Recommended Posts

I have loved all my Carnival cruises, but I admit to be highly motivated by price, which Carnival has up until last year snagged me with. I must also say however, if there was an RCCL cruise available for the same price, I would go for it, and just to compare. I know that I would enjoy that cruise as well as the others I have taken, but I really have reached the point after 5 Carnival cruises, where I want to be able to compare cruiselines.:)

I have sailed Carnival, RCCL, Princess, Disney, NCL and Celebrity. If just between Carnival and RCCL, I would go with RCCL. If choice of any, I would go with Celebrity. They have the best service, really makes you feel special. The ships are decorated beautifully, and the food is more upscale. If you don't like fancy food, you may not agree. We love to try new things. As nice as the Disney ships are, and with their good food, we won't do them again, we missed the casino too much !!!!

Oasis is not a ship that we want to go on. I think it's bigger, not necessarily better. I would love to try some of their specialty restaurants, but if that's my only draw, I could do that for a lot less sailing on NCL.

Carnival is a good bargain, but if prices were the same, I would go on Freedom of the Seas. I absolutely love that ship as much as I loved Mariner when she sailed from Pt Canaveral. Granted, we are older, so many of the things on both lines hold no interest for us.

Pt Canaveral is convenient for us, so we usually sail from there, but we have sailed from other ports and on different cruise lines.

No matter which cruise you choose, I hope you enjoy it!

You could also pick any ship. example dream would be same price as oasis. lol

I would take Freedom of the Seas over any others at this point if all things are equal, I really like her. That might change after I go on Allure in October though.

I prefer Royal, but for the price I do Carnival. As long as I'm on a ship there are good times to be had! :D You can have fun anywhere, as long as you put your mind to it and relax and not look for the bad thing.

Although I DO want to try Oasis or Allure I'm a little scared I will be spoiled by a ship that I couldn't go on every time.

That aside I would probably pick Carnival because there are two things Carnival specific that I couldn't imagine cruising without

A) Ships on a Stick

and

B) Warm Chocolate Melting Cake

Royal. I like being active, even when on vacation. I was really bored on both of my Elation cruises. I'm hoping Paradise will offer a little more, but nothing compares to RCCI's offerings.

If you can step up to the Spirit Class Ship or larger On Carnival. The Elation was slow for my Mom and she is 79...LOL

The larger ships seem to have so much more to do and many more activities

Haha, I tried! I'm starting to think Carnival doesn't want me anymore. They keep canceling my cruises!

One of the things most important to us is to be able to have a drink in our cabin. We spend alot of time on our balcony. If we can't order a bottle ahead of time for our cabin, it's a deal breaker for us. We can on CCL. And for those of you that think we are lushes, we usually bring the half leftover bottle home with us. We've been on RCL & don't see the value of the extra $. We've also been on X and definately don't see the value for extra snobiness. We'd take CCL every time.

I am analytical, I would look at the ships and route and pick the ship/route that works for me. Since I really have no desire to do 75% of the activities on RCI, I would have to say I would go with Carnival. I like Carnival and find a "resort" like decor really boring....seen one, seen em all....Perhaps that is why Atlantis in the Bahamas went as far out as they could and built this amazing resort based on what they think the lost city of Atlantis would be like. In the meantime, other resorts have the same type of decor and it is boring...

carnival because it leaves from NYC which is easier to get to

rci leaves from NJ, which is a bit more costly and harder to get to

RCI because it leaves from Bayonne which is easier to get to. Carnival leaves from NY, which is a bit more costly and harder to get too. Said with Tongue-in-cheek.

Actually I prefer RCI for the ice show, ice skating, Quest, rock climbing wall, promenade parades, and two story library. That said, the next three cruises are on Carnival. I can't pass up the good deals. They leave more to spend on land vacations.
