Bringing Soda onboard

Recommended Posts

The general rule says no..however many have had NO problem bringing sodas/water on by even just putting a luggage tag on it..You can take your chance. The worse case scenario is all they can say is "sorry". So it may be worth a try for you...

Soda and water are OK to bring onto any R/C ship. They are looking for for naughty "a" liquids: alcohol. We always bring a case of diet coke and a case of water. Empty the fridge and stock it with your liquids. Inevidably, I am asked to open the carry on that goes thru the scanner, and when he sees its water, he just lets it go. Enjoy your cruise!

The ship carries Coke products, so need to bring Diet Coke. They also sell bottled water and have safe drinking water, so no need to bring water either.

Enjoy

Best to never say it is "OK" the general rule is in place and can be used at Any time... After all, sodas and bottled water are a Revenue product for RCI..Agree with the post above..ship filtered water is fine ;)

Is this a general rule for RCI or all cruise lines?

Loyal to Royal so no first hand knowledge with the competition, although I'm sure someone will sail by with that info...;):)

Last June, we went on Oasis and took a case of bottled water (4 of us) and slapped a luggage tag on it and handed it to the porter..no problems whatsoever! Bottled water on the ship is expensive. We also took cans of various cokes that were in 1 of our suitcases and that too was still there when we got our luggage. It wasn't a big deal to take the water and although we live in south florida and are used to the heat, we also know to stay hydrated! Sometimes people forget that!!

:D

We were on the 3/27 Allure sailing and I slapped a luggage tag on a 12 pack of Coke Zero. It was the last thing to arrive to the room, so I thought it may have disapeared somewhere along the way, either by RCI not allowing it through or a couple of porters thinking it looked like a nice tip, but it was to the room by 3:30 or so.

Soda and water are OK to bring onto any R/C ship.

Although it's often allowed, it's technically against the rules. From their FAQ:

Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard?

A: Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

Please Note: All guests must comply with TSA guidelines for transporting liquids.

It's interesting that the FAQ here states that one cannot bring non-alcoholic beverages, but then goes on to list all of the consequences to bringing alcoholic ones without listing consequences for trying to bring non-alcoholic ones aboard.
