Do you have to tip in dollars?

Genuine question really, as we're cruising the eastern med in the main we'll use our credit cards but we may have some €'s on us too. Plus we don't have any dollar bills right now, so we'd have to order some.

So what I'm wondering is if we handed a member of the staff some €'s are they going to look at us like we've gone off our rocker? :p

I think Euros would be welcome by the crew since they are in the Med.

I agree, since they are in the Med, it is easier for them to use Euros versus exchanging dollars for euros and losing money on the exchange fees.

If you really need dollars you can charge them to your sign and sail card in the casino for a 3% charge. Some ships you can do this by using your sign and sail card in a slot machine, adding money to the card through the machine, and cashing it out without paying the 3% charge.

You can tip using your euros...after all it is worth more than any dollar (American or Canadian) I am sure they will be very happy with euros; some of the waitstaff even come from European countries so they won't even have to exchange the money. You can also include tips on your sail card given to you at embarkation for any charges on board including tips. Whichever you prefer. Have a great cruise. :)

If you ae on an MSC, or Costa ship, euros would be most appropriate, while Euros or Pounds would apply on a Cunard, P&O or other British based ship. Dollars or Euros would only be appropriate on US based ships like Princess, Carnival, HAL, Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. In the Med, Euors would always by OK.
