Tophat4321 Posted April 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2011 I made a slide show of our get together on Sailway nite and Meet and Greet. These pics are from the March 8,2011 EP cruise. We had a medical evac and the Coast Guard Helicopter came and the rotor wash blew a bunch of deck chairs into the sea. Picture will show at about 50 seconds into slideshow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffb_1tzAABE

hansolosmom Posted April 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2011 looks like you had a great time - never been to aruba but would love to visit! So do the crew members draw straws to see who has to get the chairs
Whimsy Posted April 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2011 I have heard of this happening but never seen it. Wow! That would really be something to have those chairs flying off the side.

Tophat4321 Posted April 22, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Even more incredible was the staff attending your meet and greet! I have arranged a couple of Meet and Greets and have always had senior staff show up. The key is presentation of the invitation to senior staff. I have a invitation card that that can be changed. I get the staff names and titles from Princess. I complete the card, print on heavy stock and then place in a 8'' by 5" manilla envelope using address labels. First stop I make after boarding is the pursers desk to drop off.
FoghornLeghorn Posted April 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2011 I'm just imagining the Sea Life now sitting in those chairs.. "Hey Fred!... These are great! My fins were killin' me....do you suppose we could get them to toss over a TV and a remote?!?!?"
Cruisers from WA Posted April 22, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 22, 2011 I have been on Princess many times and have witness quite a few medical evacuation and I have never seen flying chairs!...OMG!!!!.... I just read this on the web....and I guess a few chairs into the sea from a Princess ship is better than a very SICK, CONSCIOUS, woman being dropped into the very cold sea!!!! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3538753/Grandmother-73-sprawls-in-freezing-Arctic-Ocean-after-being-dropped-in-rescue-from-cruise-ship-after-falling-ill.html?OTC-RSS&ATTR=News
kendon Posted April 22, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Thanks for sharing the video...The chairs really went flying! BTW, I recognized a mother and son at the Outriggers from a cruise around a year ago!
MCC retired Posted April 22, 2011 #14 Share Posted April 22, 2011 If you look realy close at the deck chairs flying photo , you can see a couple of flip/flops , towels and a book that were reserving them for 2 chair hogs.

srice Posted April 23, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 23, 2011 We were sitting by a window in one of the MDRs on the starboard side during the evacuation shown in Rick's video and saw chairs flying by the window. At first we couldn't believe it but quite a few chairs flew by. Needless to say it made the dinner memorable!
Treven Posted April 23, 2011 #18 Share Posted April 23, 2011 When I first read the intro, my thought was a group of kids/teens  had thrown the chairs overboard!
