Rare Keith1010 Posted May 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2011 Cadiz is a very easy city to walk around on your own which is what I would do. The town is located within a five minute walk from the ship. There are many places to walk into including churches and then there are very nice streets to walk up and down within the town that have stores, cafes, restaurants and the like. Some will go to Seville from there but it is about 90 minutes each way. Keith
meterman2 Posted May 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2011 If you're in Cadiz for just one day, I would ship trying to do Seville on your own, unless the ship is leaving late like around 11:00 p.m. I agree with Kieth that it is a great city to walk around. The mercado is well worth a walk through, the churches, stores and every narrow street seems to lead into a beautiful square/plaza which are scattered throughout the city. Skip the Roman ruins (construction fence around them-April).
jocap Posted May 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2011 The HoHo buses wait just outside the dock at Cadiz. If you want to go to Santiago from Vigo, Keltic has written a wonderful article on this page about travelling there . Jo.
Nebr.cruiser Posted May 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2011 We recently returned from a TA that stopped in Vigo. Since we'd been there before and had done a tour to Santiago (very good), we decided to just walk around the town. It was a fantastic day; we walked up the hill to a small fort and then all the way to the park/outdoor recreation area at the top of the hill. That's quite a hike with lots of steps but we made it fine, at 65 and with a badly pulled glute muscle. Later we walked back down through the shopping area to the piers, had a gelato and back to the ship. Of course, this was all helped by the fantastic, perfect weather. It's a picturesque and interesting town without needing a tour. Others who went on the wine-tasting tour reported having a great time also.
