RCCL Diamond Member Perks

Recommended Posts

Puff, I know - and you weren't one of the people who ripped the OP on his simple statement. It's just amazing how some people post such mean spirited things sometimes. The guys was excited about his perks - and at least 2 people picked up on that one thing and belittled him for it. Having been in that position several times - and on either side of it too, no one should judge others like that. No worries.

In fact, because our friends were in a GS and used the concierge lounge last time and we are Diamond and now one cruise away from getting BACK in there - we booked a GS just to spend time with them. :D We didn't expect them to give it up and we decided on our own that it would be worth it. Now of course we MIGHT blame them if we love a GS so much we don't want to give it up. ;)

I agree. Kinda what I was implying without saying it.

DW and I will reach Diamond after our GS cruise on the Navigator next Spring.

We will then switch to Celebrity and will probably only go on new ships that RCI rolls out; if at all. We will also return to Carnival to try their new ships out.

....I got carried on board on the shoulders of the 1st officer......too bad you missed that perk....

OMG, now I have to dig out the windex to clean off my monitor screen. I guess I missed that perk too.

We have sailed out of Port Canaveral more than 50 times and we have never seen anyone being allowed to use the center doors to enter the terminal. This will be interesting when we go there in 3 weeks.

As far as people who are not in a suite or D+ getting to take advantage of your status to check in, I don't feel that should be allowed. I have seen cases where one person was D+ and they drug their whole group of 30 - 35 people through the check in line, which ment that those who have actually earned this perk had to wait a lot longer to check in. I'm not talking 5 minutes. It seemed that these inexperianced cruisers didn't have any of their paperwork straight, and kept having to dig in luggage for IDs, Passports, set sail, etc. We wound up switching to the regular line because it was moving faster. So no, don't invite your friends and family to join you for a perk they haven't earned, unless they are traveling in the same cabin as you. Just my opionion.

It gets even better when youre D+!!!!!

Did you know you could have gotten your friends on the ship with you too...All in your party can take advantage of your pre-boarding perks!

How much better does it get? I'll be Diamond Plus after my cruise to Bermuda on July 2, 2011.

So I hope you will NEVER complain when the line is very long perhaps as many others have invited their friends too.

I find the regular line is often faster and rarely use the "special" line for check-in.

Yes, and what is this supposed to mean?..............I dont want to assume anything. Esp when it comes to people like you who speak loudly about others on line.

We didn't abandon our friends, In my case we all arrived from different shuttles and times, so, yes we boarded without them....So maybe get your facts straight before blasting someone.

I personally would not want my friends to give up a perk just to accomodate me.

Just remember that not all ships have a Concierge Lounge. In addition, the way you are treated on one ship doesn't necessarily mean that you will be treated the same way on another ship. Consistency is a word RCI still hasn't figured out.:o

You do not really get special MDR seating. What you do get is "Priority waitlist seating request in the main dining room".....which basically means if you want early/late seating and it is booked, you will be waitlisted until a table becomes available at the time you have requested.

But you are correct, being D+ does have some nice benefits.:)

Patti............just coming off of the Golden Princess, first time since 2006 to sail with Princess, I must say that consistency is not practiced at Princess as well.

We look forward to cruising with RCI again, as we have come to know the inconsistencies of Royal, and find that we are happier with them than those at Princess!

Can someone please elaborate on eating in the specialty restaurant during windjammer hours (by taking your windjammer food in there).

Thank you.

On Voyager and Freedom class ships, one of the specialty restaurants is open for Gold Card passengers only: those in GS or above. (to eat their Windjammer breakfast or lunch food)

On SOME ships, people have reported that D+ are allowed this privilege also. I was flatly denied on the Independence last month.

I believe that you get the free photo at the Diamond level as well as D+

You'll get a $5 credit - enough for 7.7 minutes of internet use. ;)
We actually got $19.50 internet credit which at 65 cents per minute equates to 30 minutes free. I believe the $5 credit was before the new changes.

Just long enough to reach your email inbox and then get disconnected, ha ha
It gives you a little longer that than, depending on connection speed, which on Liberty and using WiFi in the cabin was very good.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, Diamond benefits last week also included one coupon for a $10 discount off the $25 'wash and fold' offer on 4+ night sailings and another coupon for the 8+ night sailings.

One free photo offer and as mentioned, 2 beverages plus a basket containing cookies, mixed fruit and candid peel in your cabin on arrival and bathrobes for use onboard.

On Liberty we did get a welcome letter from the Diamond Concierge who is fantastic and also an invite to a back stage entertainment tour, and the welcome back Crown & Anchor event.

Entry to the Ice Show without reservations was also a benefit by just the production of your Sea Pass card as this shows your status.

There is also 'buy 1 get 1 free' coupon for wine, beer or soda.

15% Tuxedo discount.

20% discount on a glass of wine, beer or soda.

Free non-alcoholic speciality coffee, but only when ordered with a meal in the speciality restaruants (not including Johnny Rockets).

'but 1 get 1 free' milk shakes in Johnny Rockets

3 free slot pull tokens (we won a key chain again!)

Casino match play coupons (can't remember how much value, I think $5)

15% discount on purchases of $25 or more on RCI logo merchandise

Discount on purchases of over $1000 on fine jewelry and I believe one for art purchases.

There is also another coupon for 20% discount if you purchase an internet package.

Stateroom phone discount - 75% discount so $2 per minute rate

$5.00 USD off any dry cleaning or pressing services of $25.00 or more.

Purchase any bingo package and receive one free strip of 6 Jackpot Bingo Cards.

10% discount off Airbrush Tattoos

15% discount off Caricature & Portraits - on any Black & White or Color Caricature or portrait.

25% off the purchase of RCI Savor Cookbook.

20% Spa or salon service discount

There may have been more, but these are what I can recall.

Just completed my first Diamond Plus cruise - 4 nighter on Majesty. What a treat - A GOLD CARD!! There wasn't too many D/D+ members aboard (shorter cruise I guess) - but we got all the perks, including a Bridge Tour, that fellow CC members have indicated. My BFF was a 3rd timer so we got a GS so she too could enjoy the benefits (mostly space!!).

I can't wait to sail again with DH - he hasn't experienced the D+ privileges as yet and will no doubt enjoy them.

For those who think the perks aren't warranted - wait until you too get them, you'll change your mind. That said, in order to get a "free" drink in the D/D+ lounge, it probably cost well over $60,000 in cruises!!!

Yes youre so right!!!

But its relative to everything else.....

That 60K spent has put you in a distinctive class...much the same way your choice of home and car you drive and your job, education level has.

It feels great to have the Concierge bring me a martini as I stare upon the beautiful sunset while in the Diamond lounge.

RCI understands this and has made it availble to those willing to pay a lot of Vacation $$$$. :)

I am going to assume that you were booked in a suite, as Gold Cards are given to Suite Guests (GS cabin or higher) not to D+/Pinnacle Club Members.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise.

I hope you realize that the Gold Card and the perks you received were a result of your booking a GS not achieving Diamond Plus status. Even if you were sailing with RCI for the first time they would have been yours because you booked that suite. I would hope that most people's incentive for spending $60,000 in cruises would be the enjoyment that those cruises provide and not the goal of whatever perks they might gain by becoming Diamond Plus members.
