disembarkment

It depends on the cruise line you are going on. I would post your question on your Cruise Line page under Cruise Lines here on CC. Thats where experts from your line hang out. Some lines have a very systemaic system while others disembark at will.

How long does it take to disembark if the ship arrives back at NYC at 8 am? I need to book a shuttle back to airport. Thanks for the help.:D

If the ship actually arrives at 8:00, you can probably count on being able to get off any time between 8:45 and noon. Of course, if the ship is delayed -- say until noon - then you need to figure on a few extra hours.

There is no such thing as a sure thing. I imagine the line warns you against booking a flight before noon --- allowing 45 minutes to the airport and an hour to check in -- means that the line thinks you should not make any plans to get off before 10:15.

Most of the shuttles coming into NYC will guestimate around 10 - 11 a.m. but will tell you to call for confirmation when you sail under the Verizzano Bridge. When you pick or get assigned your luggage tag you can call or e-mail & tell them what time it says but remember that is only an estimate. Your best bet is to call when you arrive.

Just so we're clear you still make a reservation but the actual pick up is a bit flexible.

Hopefully you didn't book a flight before noon.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Always keep in mind that most cruises encounter no problems when they arrive back in port.

But sometimes the ship can be delayed getting back into port because of bad weather -- or the ship isn't cleared by the local authorities right away. We have sometimes waited 2 hours for the ship to clear.

If you arrive by 8:00 AM, and there are no major delays with getting the ship and passenger's cleared you will likely be off the ship by around 9:30 AM. If this is a regular itinerary than post on the cruise line cruise critic site to see what others have experienced on this itinerary.

Also have a cell phone with you and the contact number for the shuttle although shuttles normally monitor the situation.

Be careful folks, if someone decides to pull you out of line and check your bags, won't matter, they can detain you for as long as they want. Happened to us and we missed our shuttle and even though we paid to have our luggage taken from our stateroom to our final destination, didn't happen and they didn't care. It was not a happy experience.....never happened before, we always were first off and no issues, it only takes one time and you'll have a totally different experenice.
