Rare kazu Posted September 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Does anyone know if Zuiderdam has buffet style dining like rccl or NFL or celebrity do? Are you talking about on the Lido deck? if so, yes, there are different 'stations' that you go to for different types of food. First two days of the cruise is not normally self serve to help protect the ship from Noro.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Correct -- the first 48 hours on the ship -- you will be in Code Orange in the Lido buffet area. Everything will be handed to you -- even drinks. You can touch no food or drinks during that time yourself. There will be continental breakfast -- usually starts at 6 or 6:30 -- depends on port times. Then the main Lido buffet will open around 7 or 7:30 -- again times depend on port times. It will close around 10:30 so that they can get ready for lunch. The buffet lunch opens at 11:30 and the main area will close around 2 or 2:30. The sandwish area, pizza area, salad and dessert area stays open till around 4 or 4:30. Then the Lido buffet will open at 5:30 for dinner and closes at 8 or 8:30. There is also the Terrace Grill by the Lido Pool that serves hot dogs and hamburgers -- opens at 11:30 and closes at 6.
George C Posted September 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Very slow service in Lido that 1st 48 hours, better off using MDR 1st 2 days.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2011 True -- but the dining room isn't always open for lunch. Breakfast and dinner -- yes. One other thing -- if you have a port day within that 48 hours -- the dining room may not be an option if you have an early excursion since it doesn't open on port days until 7:30. GeriatricNurse Posted September 9, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Very slow service in Lido that 1st 48 hours, better off using MDR 1st 2 days. Well, from my one & only time to dine (for breakfast) in the MDR, the service was very S - L - O - W! And the toast, among other things was cold! Never again!
matondo Posted September 9, 2011 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Room Service!!!! We love it and you can also order things that are not on the menu so there is even more variety than you think!!
Rare kazu Posted September 9, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Room Service!!!! We love it and you can also order things that are not on the menu so there is even more variety than you think!! Just a tip for the op - things not on the menu are available (like eggs benedict) but the dining room has to be open. I found that out the hard way. The room service steward apologized. But I had beautifully poached eggs on toast which more than did the trick. Room service on HAl is great. We use it for all of our early tours. We rarely go to the Liod:p

But not all other items can be ordered for room service -- especial hot items -- until the dining room opens.
