juncos Posted October 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Is there anyway to find out what activities they have in a cruise before you booked the cruise? For example who are the band who plays daily. What kind of shows who is in it> What kind of music they are going to have ect ect. Thanks
SadieN Posted October 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Ask on the cruiselines board. Hopefully a recent cruiser can help.
cb at sea Posted October 6, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2011 It really depends how far away your cruise is....the entertainers change out fairly frequently....whoever is on your cruise will be quite sufficient in their talent. Don't expect to know the names of the entertainers, unless you are a VERY FREQUENT cruiser...the entertainers are on the "cruise ship circuit" and you are unlikely to recognize their names! You can do a search on your cruiseline's board....and see if you can pull up a daily newsletter (each cruiseline has a different name for them.....Compass, Patter, etc....)and that will give you a general idea of what to expect, however, it won't be exact. eh2zed Posted October 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Best bet is to ask on the cruise line board for any recent cruiser input. However, if the cruise you need to know about is a few months out you will not get much.
griffy116 Posted October 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2011 We've never worried too much about the who the band was and the activies are pretty standard. We've been on several cruises where the entertainment had to be changed because one of the acts didn't make the ship or had a medical problem. We're just happy to be on the ship, no matter who's performing. It's sometimes a nice surprise.
janina Posted October 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2011 I plan my cruises by the ship/cruiseline more and the itinerary, before I look at who's on the ship. But with that being said go to the cruiseline board and you can get an ideal.
Rare Essiesmom Posted October 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2011 On many ships, the bands are not a 'group', rather they are like a 'pick-up 'band. A company provides musicians, and they are all independently/individually hired and may change at different times. EM
5326jan Posted October 7, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 7, 2011 On port intensive cruises and with late seating we rarely go to the shows! We try to have very busy days with private guides and get back to the ship an hour before sail away. We like the late seating at 8:15. We try to sit at a large table of 8-10 and enjoy chatting with our table mates until about 10pm, by then.... we are ready for bed! There's usually a band or group playing on the main pool deck for sail away that we enjoy or can hear from our balcony while we have a glass of wine. I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't care about the performers on board if that's important to you, it's just not a big deal for many. We pick our cruises based on the itinerary, the rest is just gravy. :)
CruiseLuvver Posted October 7, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Is there anyway to find out what activities they have in a cruise before you booked the cruise? For example who are the band who plays daily. What kind of shows who is in it> What kind of music they are going to have ect ect. Thanks You should be able to find that out from the cruise line - there are a lot of people who choose cruises specfically for the entertainment or officers, and all these things are booked months in advance.
