Inside Cabin Cruiser Posted November 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2011 What ID does an under 17 year old need? Leaving and returning same US port, travel to Bahamas.
6rugrats Posted November 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2011 Since this is a closed loop cruise, and I am assuming minor is a US citizen, they need their official birth certificate. Your cruise line's webpage should list this requirement.
cb at sea Posted November 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2011 Under 16 needs no picture ID...just the BC on a closed loop cruise. If they're 17, they'll need a driver's license or state/school issued picture ID.
Liz54 Posted November 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2011 Just a reminder that the OP is referring to a child who is American. Canadians and others of any age need passports!
commodoredave Posted November 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2011 A lesson I learned a few years ago is never assume anything "foreign" in terms of ID will be accepted in the US. Point in case: My 25-yr-old nephew from England was visiting us in Florida last year. We went to the Tommy Bahama bar in St. Armand's Circle and ordered a drink. The bar tender asked my nephew for ID, so he pulled out his UK Driver's Licence with his photo and the European Union symbol on it. The bar tender looked at it, and informed us that he couldn't accept a driver's licence from a foreign place that he wasn't familar with!
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2011 It's always a good idea to confirm all of this with the cruise line. Keith
