Menace of the Seas

My first sailing on any RCI ship was Monarch on Dec. 14. I didn't know what to expect, my vision was a dark interior. I almost fell over when I boarded to see the gorgeous atrium, welcoming staff members, warmth of the people. Was it rocking when we left port, oh, yes, but I knew that meant we were on a cruise. Everyone was jovial about how we all walked like we had too much to drink. Our sailing also was one of the lucky ones that made it to Coco Cay, but coming back to the ship was really a jolt. Once back on board, all was well. Thought I had died and gone to heaven in the casino with the actual use of real money vs all the electronic jargon on other ships. I kept a few people employed while there, left empty handed and had a ball doing it.

SOOOO glad that you had such a great time. Monarch is one of my favorite ships, and I can't wait to do another small RCCL ship since Monarch will be leaving the fleet next Spring. It's a relaxing cruise, yet has a fun atmosphere as well. I am fortunate enough not to suffer from motion sickness, so I rather enjoy that rockin' 'n rollin'! Hope you have another opportunity to cruise soon...it's a fabulous way to vacation!

We had an awesome time on the Monarch in May. We had a bad sea day and yes we were rocking and rolling too but as said a little Bonnie or patches did the trick as non of our party got sick. The crew is second to none, awesome service and the cruise director Marc "bing bong" is the bomb!!!!!

My old boss SWEARS he wins every time he goes to Vegas. The trick is that he believes in fuzzy math. I will just use round numbers to keep it simple.

He allocates a set amount for each of the days he is out there. Let's call it $100 a day to keep it simple. He exclusively plays slots. He puts $100 in his left pocket and hits the slots. Any time he switches machines, which is not often, he cashes out and calls that his "winnings" for that machine. He puts that in his right pocket.

Day 1 - $100 allocated

Machine one - $10

Machine two - $20

Machine three - $50

End of the day $80

He spent $100 and brought back $80, normal people say that is a LOSS of $20. He says that he won $80 because the $100 was sunk the moment he woke up that day as his personal entertainment fee.

Day 2 - $100 allocated

End of the day $30

Wow! He won $30! You say he lost $70, but he doesn't believe you!

Day 3 - $100 allocated

End of the day $200

He's up $310 in his eyes, but to most of us, he's up $10 because he spent $300 to get his $310. He simply doesn't see it that way.

It doesn't matter what we see. He sees it all as winnings.

  • 2 weeks later...
we have to tender to CocoCay. I've never been and would like to go and see.

Join the club... we'd all love to see CocoCay, but that place is a mirage. No one actually visits it.

I have a room booked at Atlantis at THE COVE so hate to eat that reservation.

You know this is in Nassau right? Not CocoCay? Just checking. You don't have to tender to Nassau, so you won't miss it.

The oldest ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet, Monarch of the Seas, will be transferred to sister company Pullmantur Cruises in April 2013.

Monarch of the Seas, built in 1991 PortCanaveral to the Bahamas and will conduct its last sailing on March 29, 2013.

Royal Caribbean will announce a replacement for Monarch in the next few months.\
