LDVinNC Posted December 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2011 I just happened to look at the Holland America website and our April 1 Transatlantic has been reduced again, this time saving us an additional $350 for two. I called the TA and got the reduction - we are very happy about that, and the total price has gone down about $700 since we first booked.
iancal Posted December 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2011 Good for you. Keep an eye out for more price reductions and for changes in category pricing. We have sometimes got good upgrades when the category above our booking is reduced in price to the same price point.

Your TA, ( known here at home as TC -Travel Consultant),:), should have been the one to have investigated this for you and called you with the good news! ;) Isn't that part of their job?
Cruise Organizer Posted December 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2011 Your TA, ( known here at home as TC -Travel Consultant),:), should have been the one to have investigated this for you and called you with the good news! ;) Isn't that part of their job? A good TA has way too many booking to trace each one every day My TA also has group pricing which is less than the cruiseline's price. My March cruise has dropped $200 on the website, but is still more than what I paid.

My March cruise has dropped $200 on the website, but is still more than what I paid. Even if the original price by the TA was lower than HAL site original, it doesn't hurt to call your discount TA if you see the price drop on the HAL site. Most times when I call my discount TA and tell them I noticed a price drop, they put me on hold, verify with HAL, and drop MY price....I have saved $100's doing this...it's worth a phone call. luvcruisn' Posted December 10, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2011 LDVinNC: I'm glad you got a price drop. I have not been so lucky. My last two cruises departing from Buenos Aires and Valparaiso never dropped at all in price.
English_in_Spain Posted December 10, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 10, 2011 As I have said before. You are all so lucky to be able to benefit from price reductions. When we book we are locked into a price and lose our deposit if we cancel, even if that is 12+ months before sailing.
LDVinNC Posted December 10, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted December 10, 2011 I guess you cannot book through a US travel agent, then? We feel like we hit the jackpot because our return Transatlantic on Cunard has more than doubled in price since we booked. No effect on our wallet, of course, but we feel we got a bargain! habibti Posted December 10, 2011 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Congratulations!! We got a substantial savings also, $500 per person. Saw it on HAL's website, called our TA and she immediately lowered the cost to us. We're on the April 12, Eurodam Spanish Crossing out of FLL. That helped to offset the ridiculously high airfares. Hope others were able to benefit from the sale!
