There will be tons of cabs waiting for you. If for some reason you need a larger vehicle, i.e. more people than what will fit in a regular cab, they will call for a van etc. They are waiting there also. Very quick and easy.

When we were there in December there was a sign just outside the terminal saying $11 pp to the airport. I had read before it should be about $15 per cab. Do you walk out further to get the cheaper fare or what?

Ignore those signs and the people trying to sell you a seat on a shuttle. Walk further to the left and you will see the taxi line. Depending upon how traffic is, the ride should be $10-$15.
