free deck of cards and postcards - really?

I was perusing this link that was posted in another thread: http://www.*****/Carnival/info.html

And I see the following sentences:

If you need postcards go to the Guest Services desk. They have ones with the picture of the ship on them for free.

You can get a free deck of cards at the Guest Services desk.

Is this true? I had no clue of this when we sailed CCL in 2010. A deck of cards would be a great little souvenir, as would a postcard. Please advise if these are indeed available and free, still. We will be on the Liberty again in less than a month.

Thank you!

I got a pack on the Pride ,Jan 2011. I believe they are phasing out the free cards.

On the Fascination this month, they said they no longer give out free cards but you can buy used ones

from the casino for a buck which are high quality. The freebies were very low quality and were generic

Carnival cards without the name of the ship.

DH went to Guest Services to get a print-out of our charges on Liberty a few weeks ago. The person there handed him 2 decks of cards - brand new Carnival ones - really nice! He never asked for them - he didn't even know they had them! Maybe because he was Platinum, and very, very nice and polite to the person working that line!:)

It's our Son's favorite thing to do when he first gets on a Carnival ship. He goes to gues services and gets a free deck of cards and a post card of the ship! He has quite a collection now! lol

On Liberty is Dec, we got 2 packs of free cards. The first night when we inquired for some, they said they were out and to check back. (not sure how you get a new shipment at sea) on the next day at sea we went back and they gave us two packs. Keep in mind, they are thin and flimsy, but they work. Just don't plan on using them at your bridge tournaments.

  • 1 month later...

My boys discovered the free cards and of course took it to the extreme:rolleyes: Needless to say they took a bunch of them back to GS but they each kept a pack for themselves and brought a pack for 1 friend. I think used ones from the casino would be way cooler!

Last summer on the Glory the free playing cards were available every morning at the Speciality Coffee Shop. They only received 1 box daily from the ship's storage area and most days ran out by noon.

Our last port day they announced we couldn't dock that day due to fog. The waiters at the inside lounges were freely handing out the cards while the CD made out a new Funtimes schedule and some one else woke-up the casino staff.
