mycruz Posted February 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2012 No, but they will sell you one in the shop shortly after setting sail! :)
2little time Posted February 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Does the Ruby give passengers a lanyard for their cruise card? No but you can buy one in the gift shop or pick one up in Staples for a couple of dollars. If you buy it on the ship they will punch a hole in it for you. Tedferg Posted February 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2012 2 little time, will they not punch a hole if you bring your own lanyard ? I seem to remember they were $10 or so when we sailed Princess five years ago. I bought at Staples as you suggested.
topspot Posted February 12, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Yes, they will punch a hole in your card if you bring your own lanyard. We bring our own and have never been refused. Just to Pursers desk
Tedferg Posted February 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Thanks Topspot - funny how we spend thousands of $$ on a cruise and fuss over little details :)
jdvmd Posted February 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Lanyards are $3.95 in the gift shop. You can also pick them up at the Dollar Tree, Walmart etc.
Cruisematic Posted February 12, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2012 You can pick one up at the Casino for free, unless they changed their policy.
BobT172 Posted February 12, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 12, 2012 we got free layards on the Crown past week in the casino... they were the coiled type, not the cloth type. We have gotten them before on the Ruby and other Princess ships...always in the casino.
05mak05 Posted February 12, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 12, 2012 I use a Witz box http://www.witzsportcases.com/see-it-safe.html I can tuck in some bills for the casino, my cruise card, ID, etc. Supposedly waterproof for the beach but I've never tested it. Cruisin' Chick Posted February 12, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 12, 2012 The ones at Walmart are just a couple of bucks and you can get the plastic sleeves in their stationery department. We used some of the sleeves for our luggage tags too.

Treven Posted February 12, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2012 I bought one on here, Cruise Critic. It comes with a plastic holder for the S&S card or you can use the ring with the hole punched. The biggest plus is that it separates near the bottom, which eliminates the need to continuing to pull the lanyard over your head to give to the server or bar keep. Cruisers from WA Posted February 12, 2012 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2012 I use this and it has a zipper part that will hold tissues (I tend to sneeze from scent allergies) and a few "bills" too: http://www.allheart.com/pm19.html
SCFCRUISER Posted February 12, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 12, 2012 We just got off the CB 3 weeks ago. They do not sell the cloth lanyards on that ship. The Princess one I have was looking a little haggard & wanted to get a new one. But I don't know about other ships.
CruisinChris Posted February 12, 2012 #18 Share Posted February 12, 2012 The whole card on a lanyard around your neck seems so "tourist" to me. Not unlike the more senior travelers I see in airports with ticket holders hanging around their necks. Put it in your pocket, beach bag, whatever. Save the lanyard for your keys at home.;)
timetravler Posted February 12, 2012 #19 Share Posted February 12, 2012 I have several lanyards, but my fav is one I got at a ski resort. It has a elastic pull thing on the end. So when you clip your cruise card on it, you can pull it another 2 feet at least so no need to strangle yourself running it through the scanner. BTW, what I have found is not only will the pursers desk punch a hole in your cruise card, but the gift shop will do it too.

We are all of the same racial group as the locals. We all speak the same language with the same accent as the locals. And like them, we wear bermuda shorts, college or professional team t-shirts and baseball caps.

I have a lanyard that the ring clips off so you don't have to take it off over your head.

highflyingrealtor Posted February 12, 2012 #23 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Does the wiz holder hold a passport?Thank you, Seadeck2 Check out their site, they do have a size that fits passports as well as sizes for glasses, first aid kits, and larger cases too. I just ordered a couple of the small ones and we'll see how they work this year. I'll still use my pockets to hold them but I like the non crush waterproof function. Ship card, license, credit card, a few bandaids and some aspirin and I'm all ready for my port exploring. :D

Putterdude Posted February 12, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 12, 2012 I don't care for lanyards and instead use a blue leather card case that Celebrity gave me a few years ago, in one section I keep my cruise card and coffee card and the other some calling cards, When going ashore I can put a few bills in it, my DL and a CC.....heck I have even been known to have in my pocket when going in the pool which always proves to be a bad idea.:o DW uses one of the folding pouches that you can buy in the gift shop.
