CathyCruises Posted February 16, 2012 #26 Share Posted February 16, 2012 The soup varies by the day. They have all been tasty. You can order a beverage and they will go to the closest bar and get it for you. My fave crepes are the cowboy with the spicy aioli (from the Mediterranean) and the Grand Marnier for dessert. We love Bistro and eat there frequently.
librarylady19 Posted February 16, 2012 #27 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Here's the menu. http://luvtotravel.homestead.com/Bistro_on_5_Menu.pdf We had soup here twice - once it was seafood gumbo and the other time lobster bisque, both were delicious. Seafood gumbo - lots of seafood. Our favorite crepe - the sweet and sour:
nuekruizer Posted February 17, 2012 #28 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks Sandi, I too love Pouilly Fuisse. On my June trip, I will inquire as to whether it can still be ordered with lunch at Bistro. Hopefully the "wine by glass" list will be extended as advertised as we purchased the drink package as well.
Leibe_ Posted February 17, 2012 #29 Share Posted February 17, 2012 To give you an idea.........almost everyone who has been to Bistro say they love the nutella and banana crepes. I love chocolate and I love hazelnuts. I hate nutella!!! Every thing else at Bistro has been very tasty to me.:):) Sure doesn't mean the nutella is not good, just that it doesn't suit my midwestern palate. LOL;););) I think of this whenever I read a review that states that the food is bad in the MDR or any other venue..
Newsbuff16 Posted February 17, 2012 #30 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Sandi, thanks for posting the Bistro menu...it looks great! Looking forward to returning to the ship in July and trying the new dining venues.
Sloop-JohnB Posted February 17, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 17, 2012 What types of soups do they typically serve on Bistro? Can you order other alcoholic drinks that are NOT on that menu? HI NUEKRUIZER, This is another great feature to sailing Celebrity, probably 99% of what you find on board is made from scratch... so things like various types of bread (esp. breadsticks) are to die for... homemade soups are delish!! We enjoyed our leisurely lunch very much at Bistro on 5... we go back for sure, and certainly can recommend. Cheers!
Fixit2010 Posted February 17, 2012 #32 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Im sorry but those who don't like it are wrong. It is not a full on heavy dining room, its a delicate and very specific place to have lunch or a snack. OK so you can only get paninis or crepes plus a few other items, however it is precise, perfectly portioned and polished. The service is a little more intimate as it is not a huge dining location. The staff are friendly and not pretentious. The crepes well mmmmmmmmmmmmm I can barely manage a sweet one after a savory. They are served perfectly. For only a $5 cover charge per person, it is a bargain. You tell me where you can eat as well in a specialist restaurant on land?

Rare TMaine Posted February 17, 2012 #37 Share Posted February 17, 2012 We also love the Bistro on 5. Like others have said, its nice and quiet, relaxing, and a great alternative to the other dining venues on board.

nuekruizer Posted February 17, 2012 #39 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Can anyone recommend the Buffalo chicken crepe? As a New Yorker we are into Buffalo Wings! Now you guys have me set on getting right to the new Bistro first thing on embarkation day with my first celebrity cruise. I hope its still a little known secret and not crowded. 114 days to go! AerynSun_JohnCrighton Posted February 21, 2012 #42 Share Posted February 21, 2012 menu remains the same. best place on board regarding price/value. Thanks, I did a search and found a menu! It looks great and I see 3 veggie Crepes for mom! What is the Spanish crepe? Which is everyone's favorite? I might have to go a couple of times to try several things!!! Luckily we are on a 12 night so I should have time. ;)
CathyCruises Posted February 21, 2012 #43 Share Posted February 21, 2012 My fave is the Cowboy crepe with the spicy aioli from the Mediterranean (I think). This is instead of the bleu cheese dressing which is also good but not AS good. Then I end with the Grand Marnier YUMYUMYUM!!!

I also love the Sweet and Sour (didn't think I would, but it's good) and the banana and Nutella of course. If you are not feeling that hungry after your main course they'll do you a simple crepe with lemon and sugar if you ask. Niiiice! Phil
artvlay Posted February 27, 2012 #45 Share Posted February 27, 2012 We ate in Bistro on Silhouette and it was awful, from the service to the food. Also, they advertised that they had paninis, but we were told that they didn't offer them on Silhouette. I don't know about Summit.

Yes, they offer paninis on the Summit, unfortunately my beef with caramelized onions panini was very greasy (I had no idea that they could be like that!) and the salad which was predominantly celery was old and dry. My mother really enjoyed the crepe that she ordered and although I thought I was ordering a slightly healthier dish, I was wrong. Our server was in training and it was her first day in the position, but she was very personable so I can overlook her lack of skill; but the food certainly did disappoint. Cruise a holic Posted May 9, 2012 #47 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Hi June, We've dined at Bistro on 5 on several occasions - on Solstice, Equinox and Constellation. We have always enjoyed the experience. Bistro on 5 features Excellent Crepes, Paninis and a Soup of the Day. The desserts are very nice too, but I'm usually full by then. Well worth the $5 surcharge, and it's a great alternative, if you wish to avoid the crush at the Buffet on Day 1 of your sailing. I hope this helps. Enjoy your Cruise ! A great idea to have lunch at Bistro on Five on the day we board. We will try it! Thanks:)

We have dined there on both Constellation and Silhouette. On Silhouette the panninis are available, but at The Porch which is up by the Lawn Club, starboard side. Bistro on 5 has become our "go to" place for lunch at embarkation to avoid the frenzy that is the buffet.
Trainer Posted May 9, 2012 #49 Share Posted May 9, 2012 I just read through this rather quickly...did anyone mention the incredible brownie desert? My duaghter and I shared one on the Solstice in March. It was so good I would have licked the bowl if I was at home. It consists of little brownie balls and (I think) a kind of whipping cream in a bowl. Plenty to share and just fabulous! I've eaten in Bistro each time I've been on solstice (4x) and never had a bad experience; both food and service have been fine!
