What do you collect from cruise ships

Recommended Posts

I started out collecting drink glasses until they became generic cruise line glasses. I also collected their deck of playing cards which is also generic for cruise lines. I do have a collections of playing cards for all the port-of-calls we have visited. I find it strange that no one has mentioned what I primarily collect. I have a key chain collections for 27 cruise ships and a key chain of every port-of-call.

The usual...hats, gifts from C & A, casino points, sail & sign cards, christmas ornaments, drink glasses, email address from newly made friends, and email address from staff members! The staff has become my second family and it is so fun to stay in touch until we see each other again!

From the cruise ship, my Seapass. Also, I collect postcards from every where I visit, I date the back and keep them all in a photo album. So I always make sure to get a postcard with the ship & name on it.

My mom is big into scrap booking, so she saves the Compasses, ticket stubs, a luggage tag, stuff like that.

Magnets from the ports of calls. Also collect sand from the beaches.

I almost forgot this as well. Sometimes have to frantically search for a beach spot to get the sand if I don't do a beach day/excursion.

Mostly it the seapasses credit card bills and lots of pictures. The only purchase items are the pocket beer bottle openers with the ship name and pic etched into it. That was the second purchase on a ship. The first being bottles of beer without twist off tops.

Started with $1 casino chips. Now it's the ship magnet.

Christmas tree ornaments from the ship and ports of call, DH also collects Hard Rock T shirts from the ports.

Ditto here! We have the ship magnets from all our cruises (save the first one in 1995) as well as Christmas ornaments from each ship, and even most ports of call.

Things we also collect (that others have mentioned):

  • Sea Pass cards
  • Cruise Compases
  • RCI logo T-shirts (on the day they are on sale)

Things I did not see mentioned:

  • Plastic swizzle sticks from drinks - with enough you can make a cool looking star/circle
  • Paper drinking glass covers with logo - for my Mom who uses them in her guest bathroom
  • Photos of MDR menus on wall at lunch time
  • Photo of the ship name sign above the pool
  • Maps of port areas visited - the older looking the better, especially nautical or navigation maps (reproductions of course) 1800 or older.
