JPTexan82 Posted February 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2012 How good is the Pizza on the Magic? Can you really get what you want on it 24hours a day no questions asked.
TXSAIL Posted February 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2012 Personally, I would give a 5 on a 1 to 10 scale. Always seemed to be a line though, with one person serving.
EmmasNana Posted February 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2012 We usually have one pizza night and order a whole pizza so it will be fresh and hot. There was always a long line but one night we decided we would just wait. We did wait 20 minutes to order. Then we waited another 15 minutes to get the pizza. I could tell by looking at the way it looked as the guy was cutting the slices of the pizzas before ours that they looked like the crust was doughy. We still waited. When our pizza was ready(?), he could not get it out of the pan and he put it back in the oven, twice for 30 seconds or so. He finally got it out of the pan and sliced it in to pieces that I knew by the look would be doughy...and they were...we could not eat them and left the whole thing. All I can say is good luck. We had multiple issues with having something decent to eat on this ship. I am thinking it must have been a new crew? I am not a foodie and don't care so much about the food, but I did have a problem on this cruise finding something edible. Normally I gain 4 pounds each cruise but I lost and so did DH on this one. Since I am not a foodie and was happy to lose the two pounds, I am okay. Once I found out where they kept the pancakes and french toast for breakfast, I just had a big breakfast and ate at the pasta bar or deli for a late lunch and just did not eat dinner. :)
golfadj Posted February 28, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2012 If you know good pizza such as from NY this is not even close. Would give it like a 4. Right out of the oven perhaps a 5. Caesar salad and garlic bread though are excellent.
TXSAIL Posted February 28, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2012 We were on the inaugural Nov 14 , and I asked some crew members about various things and most of them told me they were new. One even said I am as lost as you are. The ship is actually easy to navigate, but as above poster said, there were food issues.
TxChick Posted February 28, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Not sure about the Magic but on the Ecstasy and the Conquest but we thought the pizza tasted the same on both and we loved the margherita pizza. Its not NY pizza but we thought it was comparable to what you'd find at any chain. Our DD ate it every night on one of our 7 day cruises.

Yes, and that is why we always have a pizza night...but OP was asking about the Magic. If it had been any of the other carnival ships I have been on I would have said if was great if you order a whole pizza and get it fresh.
5waldos Posted February 28, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2012 It is free (relatively speaking) and available 24/7. How bad can it be? My son loves the calzones- especially at about 3am.
bflowngs Posted February 28, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2012 We sailed the Magic in Europe, and I thought the pizza was great. Of course it cannot compare with NY pizza, but you aren't in NYC....you are on a cruise ship!!:) Usually fresh and hot......goat cheese was really good, as was the margarita. Caesar salad is always good....and yes you can get it 24 hrs a day!!!
reginaphalange Posted February 28, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Will they customize the pizza at your request, e.g. no cheese?

firefly333 Posted February 28, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I only had it during the travel agent preview of Magic and it was surprisingly good. Perhaps better because they were impressing the TAs. Much better than the Triumph I had just gotten off of.

Jeez lady. I didn't mean to imply anything. I did not mean to offend you. I actually said it was good on all the other ships(over 10 cruises with carnival and 6 more booked):)
zqvol Posted February 28, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 28, 2012 It is just wonderful frozen pizza that rates about a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10. Heck it even makes Dominios look good.

SnowCrocus Posted February 28, 2012 #18 Share Posted February 28, 2012 I almost skipped this thread but I'm glad I read it. I did not know there is Caesar Salad available around the clock. I did not know that the garlic bread is good. Thank you for the information.

txstarla Posted February 28, 2012 #20 Share Posted February 28, 2012 It was ok... I had the cook pop my slices back in the oven to crisp them up and it improved them at least two points. I give the crust 6.5 and the sauce an 8.

This! The Chevre and mushroom pizza is nothing short of a small slice of heaven after closing down the casino. There is also usually some excellent people watching at the pizza place around this time ;)
scgamecock Posted February 28, 2012 #22 Share Posted February 28, 2012 How good is the Pizza on the Magic? Any frozen pizza is better than Carnival's pizza. It's just awful. Almost as bad as their iced tea. It's definitely one of several things to avoid on a Carnival cruise.

amberc Posted February 28, 2012 #24 Share Posted February 28, 2012 Just had pizza on the Magic last week...really didn't taste like much to me. I wasn't a fan. Now the deli sandwiches, that's a different story!;)
MpwdMom Posted February 28, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 28, 2012 And you can get grilled chicken on the salad. I tried asking for that on the Magic, nada. We did get it on the Conquest last year.
