cruisinp Posted March 21, 2012 #26 Share Posted March 21, 2012 On the first day of a cruise I found a credit card in the safe and turned it in at guest relations. I hope that the cruise line contacted the owner quickly before she noticed it was missing.

LESLIEKURZ Posted March 21, 2012 #28 Share Posted March 21, 2012 We found an envelope of money under a hotel mattress once. We turned it in but I am sure the hotel kept it.

LovesCruising Posted March 21, 2012 #30 Share Posted March 21, 2012 We found all the tip envelopes for the previous cruise. They had cash in them We handed them into Guest Relations and told our stateroom attendant so he could make sure that he got his. So nice you turned the envelopes in - however I think I would have handed the room steward his and explained where it came from and turned in the rest. Just MHO.:) On one particular cruise line.. I looked under the bed to see if it had all been cleaned properly and there was a notice saying...YES, we do clean under here! it made me laugh so much I took a picture of it Too funny! bmarchal Posted March 21, 2012 #31 Share Posted March 21, 2012 we knew that my husband's brother and his eife would be sailing in the same cabin a couple weeks later and we taped a note to the bottom of the drawer in the night stand. It was still there when they looked. We found a pair of lime green, platform flip flops that had never been worn. Nothing more interesting. Found a bank envelope with two thousand dollars on the floor of the casino the first night of a cruise. Turned it in to the customer service desk. Hope the owner got it back. Wouldn't that just ruin your cruise?
DrLookGood Posted March 21, 2012 #32 Share Posted March 21, 2012 I've read a review recently on Carnival board, where during the cruise a steward found somebody else' adult toy (di.do) under the bed, probably assumed it was current cruisers' and left it on top of the desk. EmTeeNesters Posted March 21, 2012 #33 Share Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) On one of our first cruises, we found someone's cruise photos and mailed them to one of our cruise buddies unsigned and stated "wish you were here - the chicken she is dry". When he got the photos, he had no idea who the people were and was confused. He figured out it was from us by the chicken remark (which was made to us (and him) by a waiter on a previous cruise). We always look in the back of the drawers now. We've found clothing, new scarves, and assorted stuff. (A lot of stuff falls out the back of the drawers and into the abyss.) We even found a pair of shorts that could fit both of us at once (yes, they were HUGE!) It's like a mystery tour. And it's always good to double check there before you disembark the ship especially if you overstuff the drawers. Sequim88 Posted March 21, 2012 #37 Share Posted March 21, 2012 And it's always good to double check there before you disembark the ship especially if you overstuff the drawers. Cr@p!! I had not thought of this thread in reverse - as in "What weird stuff do you know YOU have left behind that somebody else might have found?" Last cruise we got home and I was missing a cardboard tube with a reproduction of an antique map I had purchased at St. Kitts. Thinking back I bet it rolled off the top of the sofa and fell behind. I collect antique maps (repos) since I consider them a form of art. Was pretty bummed when I realized I had lost it. :(
OCruisers Posted March 21, 2012 #38 Share Posted March 21, 2012 Did find a condom on our balcony one morning mid-cruise but that was not interesting, just disgusting. On a HAL ship we found the same under our bed and also a used Depends . Probably not left by the same person. I carry a small flashlight which I always shine under the bed to check for suitcase storage. These items plus others were covered with dust ... like it had not been cleaned in months. CruiseAwayWithMe Posted March 21, 2012 #39 Share Posted March 21, 2012 (edited) The only thing I can remember is that I found some Orange flavored Metamucil on Celebrity Solstice in the medicine cabinet. Someone paid for them and they weren't yours. I guess it is a good idea to check just in case someone decides to keep what's yours. We've never found anything. IWORK2CRUISE Posted March 22, 2012 #42 Share Posted March 22, 2012 On the Oasis in December, we went to our cabin and I immediately noticed that someone’s travel documents and a diet Coke bottle were on the desk. Next, we saw a man’s suit jacket hanging in the closet. We thought that we had somehow entered the wrong cabin but we had not. After looking at the papers on the desk we saw that they were for one cabin to the left. We knocked on the door and woke someone up who reluctantly came over and found that the items belonged to his travel companion who must have walked into the wrong cabin. A short while later; I wanted to put items in the safe and found that although it was open it had a wallet in it. I hope it also belonged to the missing travel companion because we knocked on the next door again. A few minutes later, we checked out the bathroom and found a toothbrush and some prescription meds in the cabinet. Oh, no! We had to knock on the next door again! The poor man was trying to take a nap and had no idea as to the whereabouts of his travel companion. Generally, cabin doors are open on embarkation day. People should make sure that they enter the correct cabin. Although we found items that had been dropped off I guess it was better than the alternative. What if the "napper" had been the one to enter the cabin, close the door and go to sleep? That would have been really uncomfortable for us to walk in on a sleeping man in our bed! Two4ODU Posted March 22, 2012 #46 Share Posted March 22, 2012 My wife and I found a Tiffany bracelet in the room safe on the Enchantment back in January. Turned in to guest relations, then went down to the casino when it opened and first hand on video poker, I won $150.00. Maybe it was karma. That karma only lasted that night as I lost my shirt on blackjack the following 8 nights.

petesweet Posted March 22, 2012 #50 Share Posted March 22, 2012 I strongly believe in returning lost or left items to the owners. (Twice that kindness has been extended to me.) HOWEVER, I believe if I found a large amount of money, I would give my name and contact information to those in charge and keep the money until it was claimed and identified by the appropriate person. (I'm not talking about just on a cruise ship. If there is not a police station to return it to, it stays with me.) Anybody else feel this way?
