Coaster toaster Posted June 2, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Booked a 7 day cruise today to Norway for my parents ruby anniversary. Going with princess and was wondering if anyone can offer me any helpful tips on the following 1.tipping - is it best to tip as you go or pay the $11 each day before you go. 2.additional costs on board- how much do you think I should budget for 2 non drinkers? 3. Best places to eat 4. Formal dining - dad has a funeral / wedding suit, will this be alright? Sorry to be vague but just need general tips Many thanks
paul929207 Posted June 2, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic. 1. Princess will add what is commonly called the autotip to each persons onbaord account. It is $12.00 per day for passengers in suites and $11.50 per day for all others. This covers the cabin steward and the wait staff, plus the people behind the scenes who help them. We find this is the easiest way. Otherwise you are worrying about finding the right cash. If you each at the buffet or anytime dining, you would be tipping every meal. 2. Everything else is optional. Might include casino, sodas, special coffees, bingo, gift shops, excursions. 3. The specialty restaurants, but they come with a cover charge about $20 per person. Beyond that, the Main Dining Room. 4. The suit will be fine.

Rare Keith1010 Posted June 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2012 I agree with Bruce. I would try to get more information on the Princess Cruise line board. The trip sounds great that you have booked. Keith
