AOS Port or Starboard

Recommended Posts

It makes no difference at all. The ships dock in different directions and even, at different places on the dock. Any view while in the harbor will be just fine...and better than any view at home!

Actually, if the OP means Allure (and not Adventure), it does make a difference.

Allure and Oasis almost always dock with their starboard side facing the port because they are better set up for boarding/reboarding on that side. However, periodically, they have to dock port side in order to comply with certain nautical testing requirements, so once-in-a-while, there is an exception to the starboard-side generalization.

Adventure will dock randomly depending on the situation at the port at the time (tides, other ships, which dock is available, etc). Sometimes the Captain will back in, and sometimes the Captain will pull in straight forward.

We are sailing on the AOS in December. I was wondering if it makes a difference if our balcony room is port or starboard. Any suggestions from past cruisers? We are near the front of the ship.

Which AOS are you talking about? There's 2.

Come on please, don't be a pedant. Adventure is referred to as AOS, Allure together with Oasis are referred to by name. I do not believe I have ever seen Allure shown as AOS or Oasis as OOS on this forum.

Really?

There was just a thread days ago with OOS: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1649740&highlight=oos

And another the day before that: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1647894&highlight=oos

And another shortly before that one: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1642766&highlight=oos

And dozens and dozens more.

While it might be accurate to assume the OP meant Adventure, one could end up providing them with bad information if they make such an assumption.

This is very true. I always ask "which ship?" when I see MOS, LOS, AOS, VOS, SOS or EOS. Did I miss any? Things like restaurants, cabin location, bars and such vary greatly from ship to ship. If you don't specify which ship, the advice we give could be very inaccurate.

I stand corrected and thank you for the time you spent digging out the information. Maybe the first two don't count as the reference was by the same poster. :)

When I said AOS, I was talking about the Adventure of the Seas!! Didn't mean to cause such a stir! :)

You and I are on the same cruise...;) DonnaK was correct when she said "Adventure will dock randomly depending on the situation at the port at the time (tides, other ships, which dock is available, etc). Sometimes the Captain will back in, and sometimes the Captain will pull in straight forward."

I had already researched this question and found the same answer! Looking forward to our "Adventure"! See you on board! :D
