Elite - Extra OBC

That's when it pays to have a bunch of 2 and 3 day cruises under your belt. :D

Sure wish we could take advantage of those short cruises. We accumulated our total # and Elite status the old fashion way. Will take our first Princess 5 day cruise on the new Royal next October.

For $25 or $50? No thank you. But then I'll never understand why anyone would take a cruise just for the sake of the cruise count. Even if I lived in Seattle, I don't think I'd be interested in doing that.

We do live on the West Coast and have taken a few repos but they really are not cost effective. Now the only time we take them is if we are staying on for the next longer voyage. Like this Sept, two day to San Fran then ten day to Mexican Riviera.

The two day is $177 each that is pricy per day. Plus the air fare one way is high too. Much more economical to take ten day cruises when you work out the per diem. The ten days afterwards is Just over $1000 works out to $100 per day, plus obc for fcc/stock and ta are available or better.

Yes I agree with b2b you do need to let Captain Circle host know as system takes a bit to catch up.

Vickie

oh I should add, the one day Seattle to Vancouver that many are taking prior to the two day is $69 each (was higher but has come down to this) plus port charges which are almost $60 so for $130 for a day cruise which really is not a whole day as you board around 1:00 and you are off the next day by 10. not to mention you have to add on transportation back one way.

I would much rath have a bunch or 20 an 30 dat cruises under my belt.

Yes I do agree that overall it would have been more enjoyable but if you lived in the right place to take advantage of the short cruises they sometimes offer, it would be one of the perks that make being Elite quicker more advantageous. (and no I don't live close enough to take them, nor do I need it at this point)

OFF TOPIC for this thread - sorry!!!

Sea Day Cruiser, I see that you posted here, above. So, I am posting in case you might see this here.

I am hoping for a favor!

I have been looking into the Sapphire, and see that you have also been in an Ocean View stateroom on the Sapphire.

I recently started a new thread, and I was hoping that you might post there and tell me what the cabin bed layout was in your stateroom on the Emerald deck.

Thanks!!

I so agree, Vickie, but then you know how we love our B2B cruises!

The one time we did a 2 night RC cruise (Mariner OTS invite for their west coast inaugural), we accepted it only because we booked the next cruise, a 7-night cruise to Mexico. Even then, the first cruise seemed like a drinking session and the second cruise seemed very short.

I flew once to Seattle to do a 3 night cruise on Celebrity B2B with a 4 night cruise. Never, ever again. It was fun because it was a girlfriends get together, but it in no way resembled a "cruise" in the way that I was used to. I had spent 8 weeks on that same ship in the past, and loved every minute. On these cruises, it was very...not good.

so true Jeannie... love the b2b we look forward to spending our winters doing what you did

looking forward to 30 days on the Emerald

We too have found many of the short coastals were more like stags and stagettes, or birthday cruises etc.... lots of drinking and partying

You see it right away, many drunk people at muster drill :p makes for great entertainment. Security have told me that they cringe when they have to do these short trips. Head Purser has told me that Princess makes great money from bar, casino on the short trips.

Also there are a lot of new cruisers and with that comes lots of questions, comments, issues - guess we have been sailing too much we need to have more patience I guess. i will work on this
