Why are you upset of the new f2f program?

Still be a cruising newb I could be completly wrong in my assumption or was just really lucky on my last (first) cruise. When we boarded the Ecstasy last year we only had to wait in line maybe 15 minutes. The line went quick, people were very nice (no pushing, shoving, fighting to get to the front.) We carried our own luggage on (recieved the perfect luggage for christmas; perfect size to fit in scanners, has rollers, carry on bags attach to big luggage pieces, and top zips open to add more room to pack souveniers.) so it wasn't a hassle and we didn't have to wait for luggage to be sent to room. Our room was ready when we got on ship so we immediatly unpacked and went exploring. I never had to wait in any line on the ship (except for dinner and that was only about 5 minutes with ATD) even at the pursurs desk there were only 1-3 people in front of me (if any) at any given time I had to go there. We didn't have to tender to any port but getting off was very quick and easy. Again, we could have just lucked out on our cruise but if they are all like this (or close to it) I am not going to pay $50 for these "added perks". I'll earn them the hard way by being loyal. The only complaint I had was I won't be invited to the past guest party in a few weeks on my second cruise. I kept hearing good things about it and was looking forward to it; but I started thinking about how packed it must have been with all past guests and how it will be more personal when I reach gold in a couple of cruises. I'm still complaining to myself about the free drink coupon all past guests get at the comedy brunch. I'm not really a day time drinker and bloody marry's aren't my thing (I'm crossing my fingers they have a full bar at it.) I only wish it could be used anytime at any bar. But honestly i'm not that worried about it and won't let it ruin my cruise, i'll just shell out another $6 for a pina colada in the evening ;)

I just dont get it.. Alot of people take these policy announcements so seriously! You spend more money at your local walmart or grocery store ect.. Do you walk in to Kroger and demand to be the first in the express lane? Or get money back when you have to wait in line? I just dont understand the hate.. If you want the perk spend the 50 bucks if you dont..than dont hate on the people who do

 

most people these days try to find any way to complain. they act like teenage girls bickering and complaining. quite pathetic.. and yes people DO expect to go into public places expecting to NOT HAVE TO WAIT and throw childish temper tantrums when they do have to wait.

if you fly 100 flights a year and don't get upgraded to first class for FREE or paying the 50-150$.. but people who fly 1 a year get the chance to upgrade for 50-150$ do you still complain?

I think they should rate platinum by how much money they actually spend on a cruise. That should probably eliminate the majority of whiners.

Actually we showed up early around 11:00-12:00 because we were so excited about getting on the boat. After reading some comments on here though we might wait until around 1:30 next time.

I don't think it's a matter of disliking the new FTTF program, I honestly believe that it's the fear of it being the first in a string of nickel & diming by Carnival. Lots of folks, including us, cruise Carnival due to the fact that we are not continually having to pay for extras such as sushi, stir-fry

priority this and that, etc...... We pre-pay our grats and Travel Ins so other than the Steakhouse, Casino and a few drinks on our S&S we are good to go....... will we now have to worry that CCL will follow the other cruiselines by starting to charge for the little extras that we have come to enjoy ????

It seems from these boards that a fare hike is NOT what the average CCL cruiser wants...which is why if they make cuts people don't seem to get too upset over it. As long as the fares stay the same, ( 'low' being real or imagined, I should add) then the CCL passenger is a happy one. Numerous posters have made it clear for instance that the lack of evening entertainment is OK with them...so, if CCL were to start to charge extra to see professional entertainers, those people should have no issue with that 'nickel and diming'. They're happy with the stuff like Legends/Karaoke etc, that cost CCL nothing.

Carnival doesnt have a choice. Earnings have been not that great to put it mildly. They either have to raise fares as you say, or cut back .. or find a way to charge more with optional stuff that people will buy.

 

Earnings need to start going up, they have a obligation to stock holders.

No hate here! :D I'm Platinum so if they will go ahead and add this "tour" to my next cruise I will get to go immediately to my room in addtion to priority boarding. In past, Platinum has received priority boarding but still had to wait for room to be ready. This program adds an extra platinum perk and Platinum and diamond passengers get it free!!! ;) As long as they limit the numbers, I'm very pleased!

And you last sailed Carnival... when? When you reach Platinum or the highest tier on Norwegian, would you like them to sell your perks for as little as $50 per stateroom? Why bother with brand loyalty when the company doesn't value it?

 

Actually they are not selling your perks. FTTF only get to board AFTER platinum and diamond. Also they don't get Carnival Gift, laundry service, chochlate covered strawberries, or 2 for 1 Black Jack tourney. In addition the program adds perk of getting to go directly to room and getting luggage immediately. Since they will board AFTER platinum its a win win situation for us.

Since we are new cruisers and plan cruising yearly, I am excited for the program. My DH and I feel it is beneficial for us. I know others are not happy, but I am excited. We are praying they have moved this to the Fascination in November!

I HATE it as we have paid ALOT of money for all these cruises to get to this status to get these benefits and now you can just pay 50.00 that is way i am upset.

 

I paid alot of money because I love to cruise! I earned platinum perks, but that was just a bonus. I don't mind people paying to get on the ship early, I'm just happy to be onboard. I wish they offered this on my first 10 cruises. :rolleyes:

All this talk about how it's not fair Carnival has changed their loyalty program... how they adjusted perks, how they broke "promises" (?)...

 

So it got me thinking... I started to review all the companies out there which have never ever tweaked their loyalty programs...

 

oh wait, they don't exist.
