did you get any pictures from the predators tank, that is where I saw the most problems with.

But in any case it looks like they cleaned up their act. Good for them :)

I wish I had a chance to even see it:( Unfortunately Sandy changed our 35 hrs in port to 7 so we tried to see as much as possible.

We had a room in the beach tower and they directed us that way as we were heading out to aquaventure, otherwise we too would have missed it.

I wish they would better advertise what they have on the grounds and how to get to it. We basically just walked around and asked employees to get here or there.

Just noticed you sail at the end of this week. I wish you better weather than we had and a fantastic trip!

Atlantis was taken over by the bank (investors).. Brookfield (canada) is not in the hotelier business, and has already let go most of it's maintenance staff.

Actually Brookfield is owned jointly 50% each between the Canadian branch and the US branch, they have head offices in Toronto and New York

as per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookfield_Properties

I hope that they keep up the hotel

You can check in anytime, but you will not get a room assignment until 3pm. Once you check in, you can take your card to Atlantis to get your wrist bands. Pools open at 9am/ Water park opens at 10am.

If you are staying overnite, be sure to go over to atlantis for your wristbands BEFORE you check out (I think check out is 11am). You will be able to use the property for the second day as well.

Make sure you do not check in and out without getting your second day's wristbands.

Comfort Suites allows you to book just for the use of Atlantis.. They are very aware, and even let you check in and check out at the same time.

You will get the same bracelet as those that stay at Atlantis.. with full access to the pools, beach and waterpark etc.. that those at the Royal, Coral or Beach towers. (no access to Cove guest services, or Cain Adult pool or beach).

Be aware that the rate for Comfort Suites if for 2 ppl without the taxes, surchared, and fees. Adding additional ppl (up to a max of 4 ppl in the room) will incur additional charges.

Read the fine print on their website.. these taxes and fees can add up to more that the price of the tickets.

Hi Scubagirrl,

I've read a lot of your advise and have taken much of it into consideration. That being said, I'm am still planning on going to Atlantis during our March Break Cruise leaving Baltimore on March 10th, as I feel this will likely be my one and only chance to see Atlantis, and it has been on my bucket list for a while. I do plan to do it a little more economically by using Comfort Suites so that I might not feel like I've spent SO much money just to stand in lines! I understand of course that it will still be quite expensive but not quite as much as through the ship. And I know that if I wait to get a day pass when we get there, that they will likely be sold out.

Our ship arrives at 11:00 am and is in port until 8:00 pm. My plan is to hit the slides right away, as my understanding is that they do not stay open very late. I was hoping to be able to walk around to see the rest of Atlantis after the water park closes.

Would you be able to tell me the hours that the different parts of Atlantis will be open at that time of the year? It is right after the time changes, so I think the sun will be setting a little later than the week before. Not sure if that makes any difference to the hours that the different areas are open.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

March can still be a little cool at night.. so the slides will close at 5:30 and the pools at 6pm, as will the beach . The rest of atlantis is open 24/7.. as darkness comes, the aquarium lights are dim, so you don't see the same as in daylight.

Be prepared for long lines and partying spring breakers.

Thanks Scubagirrl. I'm prepared for the long lines, etc. and, between that and our time of arrival, considered not going, but I realized that I would regret it afterwards if I never had another chance to see Atlantis again. And there's no way I can afford to fly there and stay for multiple days. So we will go with the understanding that we will do and see as much as we can and that it's better than nothing at all.

Thanks again. Your wealth of information is invaluable to the rest of us.

Not to be rude here.. but Atlantis is really not all that.. I don't think there's anything to regret not seeing. It's a hotel with a waterpark. Not even a great one. Just a handful of slides.

There's so much more to see and do in Nassau ..

there are many people who would love to see Atlantis for a day. I don't know if people really think it's "all that", but it is definitely more than just a hotel with a couple slides. The caves, lagoons, underground ruins, aquarium exhibits, the grounds in general and the interior of Atlantis and just atmosphere in general are fabulous, IMO.

I've been there several times, and am super, super excited to bring my kids there. I know they are going to be in awe and love it.

The Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island now charges tourists to visit its lobby. This is new & outrageous!

Now the vans & taxis drop you off at a side entrace door near the casino. You can only visit the casino & the stores next to it. In the past, you were let out by the front door and were able to enter the lobby free. When the word gets out, they're going to lose business. I understand that the resort has always charged to use its facilities( see the pricing information posted below by someone else). I often go on cruises that stop in Nassau and used to visit the Atlantis, walk in the lobby area, eat in one of its restaurants and visit the casino. Bye, Bye Atlantis. No More! It is a matter of principle.

They have been doing this for nearly a year now.

Security is at the main door.. they will "escort" you to the casino area.

Doesn't seem to make a difference to the business.. Cruisers are still flocking to the waterpark.

Thank you for validating what I, and I think a lot of people feel. It's good to know that someone who's already been there still feels excited to go there again.

There are people that don't think Disney is all that great either. Yet thousands and thousands of people flock there every year...and pay a pocket full of money to do so. And are happy that they got to see it at least once in their lives. And there are some who love to go back there every year.

Everybody has their own opinion about what is worth spending their money on, and what's not.

For me, Atlantis is one of those man made attractions that I just have to see...at least once in my life! After I've seen it, then I'll judge whether it was worth it or not.

Just returned from Nassau via Carnival Magic yesterday. We took a cab over to Atlantis ($4/person). We did the Discover Atlantis Tour (now $40/person). This tour allows you to see all of the aquariums (The Dig) and the outside lagoons. Much to my surprise we were also able to see a LOT of the hotel grounds areas. We covered a lot of area while we were there - my feet were so sore by the end of the day! We really enjoyed the aquariums as well as getting to see the property. We had a great day at Atlantis!!

I just got back home yesterday - was in Nassau on the 18th. I was travelling with two coworkers who were doing different things so I ended up going to Atlantis twice on the 18th to show each group around.

The early group - we went over during the day and it was nice but one of our group members has limited mobility. We left him in the casino and hit the shops at marina village. Everything was well kept and no complaints. Once we found him in the casino again, they were pretty much done for the day (this was not our first stop).

Once I met up with my other coworker and another cruiser, we headed over to Atlantis after dinner. It was probably around 8pm when we arrived at Atlantis in the dark. We walked through the casino into the main lobby, took a couple of pictures, and walked straight into the Dig without questions (or tickets). After the Dig, we walked out onto the grounds which were shut down for the night. Got some other nice pictures and then walked back through the halls into the main lobby (even saw a sign that said 'Guests only beyond this point' from the area which we just came). I showed them the shops again and then we left.

I will say from what I saw that the aquariums are cleaner than the pictures posted earlier, however it is much harder to see grime in low light so I really can't give an educated opinion. But it is kinda nice to know you can still see the Dig for free after hours but your access may vary.

I know you can search for this info but just thought I'd provide recent information about visiting Atlantis using a Comfort Suites reservation.

We were rerouted to Nassau at the last minute on the Celebrity Constellation just before Christmas. Teens wanted to spend the day at Atlantis but we didn't want to pay close to $800 for the four of us to do a shore excursion. So I searched CC quickly before we got to port and found helpful information.

We called Comfort Suites once we were in port and they offered us a day room for $384 with all taxes and fees included that would allow all four of us to use the Atlantis water park/beach for the day.

We took a van from the port at $4/person, registered at the front desk of the Comfort Suites, room wasn't ready but we didn't care, and went immediately over to Atlantis. They check you in and give you wrist bracelets at the Aquaventure desk and off you go.

We enjoyed about four hours at Atlantis using all of the slides, lazy river, etc. No problem getting four chaise lounges in the sun together and had a nice day.

Is it a huge amount of money to spend for a few hours? Absolutely. But we now don't need to go back and stay for several days! We had been on a 'business trip' when the kids were 4 and 6 and said "never again" so this day trip was just enough.

Hi lovestx,

I was just wondering if this "day room" is different from just a regular room, or was it just the normal price for a room at that time. Because that looks like a lot cheaper than the price that I am looking at when I go on their website to search a room, but maybe it's because I'm looking at March Break. Did you tell them when you booked it that you were just looking to gain access to Atlantis for the day?

Thanks for any info you can provide,

There is no "day room" price.. it 's the rate on the day you arrive.

March Break is always higher.. and may require a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Check the fine print when trying to book.

CS staff realize that most 1 night guests are booking for access to the Atlantis.. they are used to it.

Guess I shouldn't call it a day room pass.....not really sure what they call it.

I think our price was close to what I saw quoted on Kayak for a room that day at the Comfort Suites. And it was December 21 so should have been within holiday rates....though Spring Break is even more money, I am sure.

I simply told the woman in reservations when I called that the four of us wanted to access Atlantis for the day and this is what she quoted me. I would encourage you to simply call and ask the same question for the day that you plan to be there.

I'm going in Feb the first week and we will stop in Nassau from 7am til 1159pm so I got a room at THE COVE so i will have access to the cove beach.

I've been to the Atlantis a few times so they comp my room. I'm only charged the tax, and energy fee and grauity.

MY host did not ask how many will be at in the room since he knows I'm only going to be there for my cruise ship stop. So will they limit the braclets to just 2 or 4?

Since I'm going to be there on a Cruise ship day I figured it is better to book THE COVE since they limit the people access to The Cove beach so it will be less crowed. I'm taking my Niece and Sister in law who has never been. DW and I go every year but we fly in and stay the 4-5 days, so don't know about the how many they give out since there is only the two of us that go.

and my Niece might want to do the dolphin encounter. I don't think the one at atlantis is all that great ( guess since they comp it I got the cheap one)

is the one at Blue lagoon better?

Thanks in advance. Also after SANDY hit is everything back to normal now?
