Lil_miss_j87 Posted August 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2012 Hi We are going our first cruise on next Saturday and whilst we were away we were looking to Skype call our family back home. We are board in Barbados, and stop at st Lucia, st Martin, st Thomas, San juan, and st kitts. Do u know if there will be any wifi we can use and is it free or how much will it cost? We shall be taking our iPads. Many thanks
CruiserBruce Posted August 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2012 Two solutions. First, check the Ports boards, you will find some answers there. Second, ask the crew on board. They know the cheapest places. Know that not all internet cafes allow Skype because it soaks up a lot of bandwidth.
paul929207 Posted August 30, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 30, 2012 A lot of restaurants like McDonalds have free wifi for customers.
CaveDiving Posted August 31, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2012 We can usually find a McDonald's or a Starbucks in any port. As has been said before, if in doubt, ask the crew. Scott & Karen
huxlemo Posted September 2, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2012 At all those ports, you will find free wifi somewhere. Awesome cruise! Best one we have been on!

Rare Crew News Posted September 3, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2012 Although I did not use it, the cruise terminal in Barbados has "Free WiFi" signs and lots of folks were seated on the floor using their laptops. FWIW the terminal is large and has lots of shops. Most cell phone carriers have no roaming charges in St Thomas or Puerto Rico since they are considered US territory. If your phone has a hotspot capability, the WiFi connections would be free there as well.
