The Taste Bar

Cruisin Pat

Recommended Posts

My husband and I will be cruisin on the Miracle in two weeks. I was hoping someone who has experience The Taste Bar could give us some information.

Where on the ship is it located? What kind of food is offered. Is it right before dinner. Is the same food offered in the dining room.

Is there an extra charge for it? Thanks:)

Its open from 5-8 on sea days and "select" port days. Food (tapas) is free and they offer drinks ($5) paired with the food. CC has a good paragraph in their ship review (click on Dining tab) describing the Taste Bar. Food is inspired by items from other Carnival dining venues, most of which are not on Miracle.

On the Magic last week, it was set up across from the Ocean Plaza section where they held the karaoke. It featured samples from the Specialty Restaurant, the Captain's Cucina and the Red Frog Pub. It was complimentary and seemed very nice. The specialty coffee and pastry bar was right around the corner from it.

the drinks i remember off the top of my head from triumph last week are blue's blue margarita, which was frozen and served with a roast pork and spicy chicken / lime / tomato soup... these ones were inspired by blue iguana cantina...

then a chianti, served with meatballs and bruscetta with fresh ricotta cheese... inspired by the italian place...

and then 'the red jumper' which iirc was a rum drink, and i forget what was served with that. red frog pub inspired...

on triumph they served it from a little stand next to the world bar at the casino.

I'm not positive but I believe that I read that the Taste Bar was in front of McGuire's Sports Bar where the Sushi was/is. I'm sure that if I'm incorrect, someone will correct me.

It's located right near McGuire's sports bar, which has two entrances; one by the pool tables in the casino, and one next to all the other bars, along the walkway after you exit the casino; this is where the Taste Bar is set up. It's where the Sushi Bar used to be. The Taste Bar opens at 5:30pm on sea days, with the exception of one day, which I believe coincided with our early port day (St Thomas)

The "tastes" were very good. There was only one thing I didn't care for, which was the spread that was on the piece of Italian bread they served with the meatball. There wasn't a "Taste" that wasn't gobbled up.. in fact sometimes we took two tastes ;) There is also a drink that is paired with the food. They're 5.00 (full bar size glasses), and were worth it. There was a wine that went with the meatball dish. Each taste was from a restaurant venue that can be found on one of 2.0 ships. They were yummy.. we had the 8:15 dinner seating and the little taste was perfect to hold us over until then.

OH dear! I was afraid it was instead of the sushi bar!

We really liked that and will miss it!

We could always count on liking the sushi rolls.

Now it is hit or miss if we'll like the "taste" or not!

I believe there still is a Sushi bar, but I'm not certain where it is.

Maybe somebody reading this that has been on the Miracle recently could clarify where the Sushi bar is located.

They sill have the sushi bar, it has just been moved o the lido deck in most cases. You may have to search for it, but the free sushi is sill being offered every evening.:)

Yes, there is a different taste each night. Again, the food is a sample from different venues on ships with the 2.0 upgrade; Blue Iguana, La Cucina, etc. Usually there are two components to the taste, like a mini grilled cheese and tomato soup.. the meatball with bruscetta.. and again.. you may purchase (or not) the signature drink that is paired with the taste of the day for 5.00.

For those that asked about the location of the sushi, I noticed it late afternoons in the vicinity of the salad bar at Horatio's on the Lido.

That blue margarita wasn't frozen, was it? We had those at our meet and greet cocktail party last year too and I wasn't impressed!
