zebra Posted September 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2012 We will be staying at The Langham for one night prior to boarding the ship and were wondering if there is a grocery store close by where we could pick up a pack of bottled water. Being pretty heavy we didn't really want to have to schlep it too far. The other alternative would be to ask our taxi driver to stop en route from the airport to the hotel - if there is a store along the way????? All suggestions welcome. Thanks. 1025cruise Posted September 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Unfortunately, the best you may get is a 7-11 or a convenience store. Is there a reason why you want bottled water? You can just take a water bottle and fill it with water from the ship. Cheaper and better than the stuff you buy.
138east Posted September 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Between the Langham and the pier there is a 7-11 on Seaport Ave/Northern Ave at the World Trade Center. You should be able to have your cab go that way and run across the street to get water.
Nitemare Posted September 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Certain to be a CVS or Walgreens nearby, but I agree with the prior poster, the water on the ship is pure as can be. And free. And doesn't leave empty plastic bottles all over the place/in landfills.
cpl100 Posted September 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2012 There is a large CVS within walking distance, though it is in the opposite direction of the port. You can buy their own brand (filtered water) or you can buy Poland Springs (pure spring water from Maine).

We don't mind what direction it is, as long as it isn't a very far walk.
cpl100 Posted September 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2012 CVS locations in downtown: 631 Washington Street 81 Milk Street 25 Winter Street Depending on what else you are seeing, just see which one is on your way. Or, check with hotel or mapquest to see which is the shortest distance from the hotel.
zebra Posted September 24, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted September 24, 2012 Thanks for the addresses! I have another question. Is there a small cafe/diner/restaurant where we can have breakfast - that is close (walking distance) to The Langham? We don't particularly want to walk up to the North End as we will be checking out of the hotel at about 10:30am. They have a restaurant in the hotel but it is very pricey. Thanks again to the Bostonians who are always so willing to help with information!!
Nitemare Posted September 24, 2012 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2012 On a weekday there will be tons of people around and plenty of Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks to feed and drink at. On weekends the area will be quite quiet and many of those shops will not be open.
zebra Posted September 24, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted September 24, 2012 Oh no, don't say that - it will be a Sunday morning! Are there no diner type restaurants close by. Sorry for all the questions.
1025cruise Posted September 24, 2012 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2012 There are very few diners in Boston. The Langham is in a relative business district.
VidaNaPraia Posted September 25, 2012 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2012 Breakfast options near(ish) the hotel: There's a Dunkin at 330 Congress St. The cluster of food stalls at Quincy Market opens at 10am. South Street Diner is at 178 Kneeland St., kind of over by Chinatown, and is open all night I believe.
