defyingravity88 Posted October 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2012 Hey all- FI and I are looking to book our Honeymoon cruise for next summer on Allure of the Seas. We are debating the Superior Ocean View with Large Balcony or Superior Ocean View with Balcony. It states the difference in size being 3 square feet. I'm wondering if that means we would get lounge chairs on the large balcony. The difference is around $500 total, but if we don't get lounge chairs we would rather save that money for shore excursions and spa treatments. :) I've only sailed Carnival and NCL (FI has never sailed), so any advice on Royal would be really appreciated as well. Thanks!
wscott52 Posted October 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2012 I think that's a misprint on the RCCL website. Other sites list the D1 balcony at either 78 sq. ft. or 80 sq. ft. We had booked a D1 for our Oasis cruise in Feb. but decided for a number of reasons we would probably be better off in a JS. Edit: I don't think either D1 or JS have lounge chairs. You might be able to request a couple.
dz9yvr Posted October 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2012 Don't coun't on getting a lounger on any standard balcony cabins or even a JS.
RoyalDiamond Posted October 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2012 We've always had at least 1 lounge chair on our JS balcony, and we've been on many different ships including Oasis and Allure.
Langley Cruisers Posted October 1, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2012 There is a thread here about lounge chairs on the balcony; you can run a search. Quickly though, we did get one some years ago on Oasis but apparently they are no longer available to be brought to the regular balconies. Obviously, if one passsenger does it then all will want it. I'm sure they eventually just said "No" across the board. The balcony cabin is nice, but if it's the lounger issue that is persuading you, take it out of the equation and see how you feel. vondofife Posted October 1, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2012 We stayed in a D1 cabin on Oasis 2 years ago. The balcony is 80 Sq ft. The website has a misprint. You get the same balcony furniture as the D2-D7 cabins. No loungers.
cb at sea Posted October 1, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2012 There is no room for loungers....you will have 2 chairs and a small patio table....that's all there's room for on a standard D or E catagory balcony. Even JS's don't usually have them....there's simply not space.
ARCruisinNana Posted October 1, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2012 We had JS on the hump and had 2 loungers, 2 chairs, and a table.
leaveitallbehind Posted October 1, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2012 Our experience is JS and above have lounge chairs, D1 and lower do not. Some lounge chair exceptions can include aft facing staterooms.

leaveitallbehind Posted October 1, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2012 Our JS did not have lounge chairs. 2 regular chairs. What ship? The last JS we had was EOS this August and it had 2 chairs and a table + two loungers. Maybe not each ship is the same in that regard.
